Internships at DNB – Make impact on finance

We offer hands-on, research/graduate internships and various internship programs for motivated bachelor's and master’s students. DNB allows you to gear your internship to your personal and educational needs. You will perform assignments independently and become a fully-fledged part of the team. As a result, you will gain valuable work experience while discovering whether a position at DNB is something you aspire.

Central Bank internship programme for ambitious master's students

The Central Bank internship programme gives you the unique opportunity to discover the financial system from the inside. Together with a group of enthusiastic interns, who start on the same day, you will work towards a stable financial system.

You will do your internship within the Monetary Affairs domain. Monetary Affairs carries out the tasks of the “central bank” within De Nederlandsche Bank (DNB). This includes ensuring stable prices in the economy and an efficient payment system, which is essential for financial stability and sustainable prosperity.

In doing so, they are part of the euro system; the European Central Bank (ECB) and the national central banks of the euro countries. All this takes place in a unique and independent environment, right in the middle of today's economy and financial news. An ideal place for students interested in economics and finance!

Choose your hands-on or graduate internship in the Central Bank internship programme within one of the three profiles:

(Macro)economics & Monetary Economics

You bring your generation's perspective on topics such as the flexibilisation of the labour market, the effect of climate change on the economy, and appropriate monetary policy for current inflation rates.

Financial stability & Financial markets

You will deal with the financial issues in today’s society, such as the impact of geo-economic fragmentation on financial markets and financial stability, the risks of climate change for financial institutions, or the impact of monetary policy on financial markets.

Data & Tech

With your talent for numerical patterns and trends, you help understand and (better) predict movements. For example, when it comes to housing market prices, inflation, financial-economic statistics, payments, distributed ledger technology, or labour market relations.

What is the difference between a hands-on and a research/graduate internship?

Hands-on Internship

In a hands-on internship, you are given a fully-fledged role in a department that matches your studies and interests. You focus on a major project or subject and get to know many different aspects of the work done within the department. Under the guidance of an internship supervisor.

Research/Graduate Internship

In a graduation internship, you carry out a specific research project. You choose it together with your thesis supervisor from your university and an internship supervisor at DNB. During your internship, you will spend a lot of time on your research and thesis, but you will also experience what it is like to work at DNB.
