Join our Cables & Pipelines team and contribute to complex subsea installations in some of the world’s most challenging marine environments. You’ll work on high-profile offshore projects, combining technical expertise and innovation to deliver reliable, future-ready infrastructure. Supported by advanced vessels and strong engineering capabilities, you’ll help turn ambitious plans into safe, precise, and successful execution.

The position

The Product line Cables & Pipelines within the Offshore Energy business unit is where offshore energy connects to land, linking generation to consumption through complex and precise subsea installations. Our projects demand agility, technical skills, and deep respect for nature’s dynamics, especially in sensitive coastal and marine environments.

We balance sustainable ambition with practical delivery. Our teams are equipped with advanced vessels like the Nexus, the Calypso, and the Stingray, combining capacity, precision, and flexibility. These assets, together with our engineering and Offshore Energy operations expertise, allow us to deliver on time, reliably, and safely, even in the most demanding locations.

We work on high-profile projects such as Sofia, Windanker, HKW, Golfinho, Greater Changhua, Vanguard and Feng Miao, where our expertise in subsea cable systems and pipeline engineering plays a critical role in project success.

A multitude of disciplines come together to ensure safe landfall, smart routing, and future-ready infrastructure.

Your impact

Our Offshore Energy business unit takes on multidisciplinary and complex tenders. Together with the tender team, you will be laying the foundations for successful offshore energy projects.

After Van Oord has been prequalified as a contractor for a project, a tender team is put together. You will start the new tender by going through all the project documentation and a tender kick-off with the team headed by the Tender Manager. You will deal with challenging projects and deadlines, so goal-oriented work and excellent communication skills are essential in this role.

Responsibilities

  • Analysing clients requests and development of respective execution strategies;
  • Coordination with relevant departments, such as Engineering, Operations and Ship Management, with the aim of drawing up an accurate and technically feasible production estimate;
  • Liaise with subcontractors in coordination with the procurement department;
  • Organising and managing project-based and content-based tender processes;
  • Compiling and writing tender documentation and deliverables;
  • Actively developing your expertise by keeping informed on the latest developments in the market and identifying possible opportunities for Van Oord.

Your workplace

As Tender Engineer in the Product Line Cables & Pipelines, you will play an integral role in the tendering process for offshore energy projects in which your input can make the difference. You will support the Tender Manager in organising and managing the tender process from the receipt of the invitation from the contracting party to the submittal of the offer. Together with ambitious colleagues throughout the whole organisation, we strive for the best results.

About you

As a person, you are capable to cope with stress and have the capacity to work methodically, but above all you are a team player with excellent communication skills.

You also bring:

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree, preferably in a technical field;
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in a similar position or project position;
  • Experiences in the offshore energy industry and/or offshore cable installation projects will be of advantage;
  • Customer minded and a representative attitude;
  • Strong analytical skills with an eye for the detail;
  • Solution driven and hands-on mindset;
  • Collaborative way of working;
  • Excellent command of the English language, verbally as well as in writing.

We offer

  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • Travel allowance (€0.31 per km) and home office allowance (€2,45 per day);
  • 32 leave days per year;
  • Variable bonus;
  • Pension scheme;
  • Collective health insurance (optional);
  • Flexible working from home policy, 2 days a week when working on a full-time basis;
  • Extensive learning and personal development possibilities, including a wide range of online courses via Goodhabitz;
  • You can join communities, like Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women and the Van Oord staff association;
  • We organise several (sport) events, e.g. winter sport, weekend of sailing, cycling and a motorcycle tour.

‘You come up with something at your desk and then see it actually working on a ship. That’s incredibly rewarding.’
