Pal is transforming how we care for people with serious illness at home.

We’re building the first fully digital platform for patients, families, and clinicians, designed to support families, detect complications earlier, and enable proactive care outside of hospitals. We focus on the months and years between diagnosis and end of life, when palliative care is most needed but often unavailable.

Our family-facing app supports people with day-to-day care and symptom tracking. Our clinician dashboard uses AI to detect early warning signs and prevent complications before they escalate.

We are now accepting internship applications, and we’re looking for passionate people to join our team.

About the role

This internship sits at the intersection of research, partnerships, and project management. You'll help Pal secure and manage grant and research funding, from spotting the right opportunities, to building the partnerships behind an application, to keeping active grants and projects on track once they're secured.

You'll work closely with us on:

Sourcing & screening

• Screening the grant and research funding landscape, keeping an overview of live and upcoming opportunities
• Assessing relevance and fit against Pal's mission and roadmap
• Prioritizing opportunities and helping plan which to pursue and when

Partnerships

• Researching and mapping potential partners (e.g. clinical sites, academic institutions, delivery partners, tech partners, NGOs)
• Reaching out to prospective partners to understand their interests, motivations, and constraints
• Coordinating and communicating with partners throughout the process

Applications

• Overseeing the grant application process end to end: writing, research, and coordination
• Clearly articulating what Pal does, why it fits the call, and the impact of the solution
• Coordinating inputs from multiple partners, keeping timelines on track and sections accurate and on time

Ongoing grant & project management

• Project managing secured/ongoing grants and research projects
• Managing partner communications, written updates, and reporting
• Planning timelines and deliverables across active projects
• Sharing internal updates on grant status and pipeline

We’re looking for candidates who can dedicate minimum 3 full days per week (ideally more), for minimum 4 months (ideally longer). You must be based in Amsterdam or able to commute to our office.

What you’ll need

Must-haves:

• Strong interest in healthcare, research, social impact, or innovation
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong project management instincts - comfortable keeping multiple workstreams, partners, and deadlines on track
• Proactive, organized, and detail-oriented, with strong follow-through
• Confidence engaging with external stakeholders professionally and thoughtfully
• Comfortable with ambiguity, taking initiative, and owning projects
• Highly collaborative and team-oriented
• Empathy and alignment with the problem Pal is working to solve

Nice-to-haves:

• Previous exposure to grant writing, research funding, or project management
• Experience coordinating across multiple stakeholders or organizations
• Experience from digital health, startups, or early-stage companies
