At G-STAR, we are looking for a Senior Buying Merchandiser to oversee Men’s Denim for the full price and off price businesses across e-commerce and brick-and-mortar stores.

As Senior Buyer Merchandiser for the G-STAR full price and off price businesses (E-commerce and Brick stores), you will oversee a complete category assortment for global sales, managing and buying for EU DTC multiple product areas end to end, in full autonomy. Your focus will be on Men’s Denim.

From assortment briefing to design, product selection for EU DTC, to investment build and OTB management, you will balance creative vision with analytical rigor to optimize brand elevation, deliver commercial success, and support the broader business.

Working closely and in collaboration with other EU DTC category buying merchandisers to maintain a holistic view across genders, ensuring cohesive strategies and aligned messages.

What we’ll do together

Your tasks & responsibilities

1. Build the Full Price & Off-Price Global Assortment Strategy

  • Define the seasonal product brief based on brand positioning, commercial goals, pricing architecture, and target customer profiles.
  • Balance fashion-forward and commercial/evergreen product stories to ensure strong performance across all global markets.
  • Select and curate the global product range distributed across all regions and channels (stores, e-commerce, franchise partners, wholesale).
  • Manage EU DTC monthly product capsules—from briefing and design alignment, to buying for G-Star.com and EU DTC stores, to communicating monthly drops to retail teams, e-commerce trade, and marketing.
  • Oversee Rivet line creation for both global DTC and Wholesale accounts.
  • Partner with Wholesale on quarterly seasonal product briefs, including functional requirements and price-point strategy.
  • Ensure each assortment is globally cohesive while allowing for regional adaptation (climate, cultural preferences, price sensitivity).
  • Identify opportunities for capsule collections and localized product needs.

2. Deep Commercial & Customer Insight

  • Review historical sales, margin, returns, and sell-through performance to guide future buying decisions.
  • Analyze emerging trends, competitive activity, and global market behavior, adjusting in-season DTC planning (STM approach) and identifying key trend directions for future wholesale mainline assortments.
  • Actively stay connected to the market through regular store visits and in-store working days to deeply understand the G-Star consumer—their behaviors, needs, and opportunities—and translate these insights into relevant and compelling DTC collection drops.

3. Collaboration With Design & Product Managers

  • Provide structured feedback to Design on best sellers, missed opportunities, and market-specific requirements.
  • Participate in trade reviews and shape range architecture, SKU count, colorways, and price-tier decisions for both DTC monthly capsules and Wholesale global lines.
  • Ensure the design vision aligns with commercial expectations and global customer needs.

4. Financial Accountability

  • Partner with Planning on EU DTC budgets and product group mix, reviewing monthly performance and forecasts to identify product needs for upcoming seasonal drops.
  • Own the Open-to-Buy (OTB) budget for EU DTC collections.
  • Forecast category growth, manage depth buying, and prevent over- or under-stocking across EU DTC markets.

5. Communication & Stakeholder Alignment

  • Act as the central link between DTC Retail, E-commerce, Planning, Design, Wholesale and Leadership for all collection-related topics.
  • Present global range selections and seasonal assortment strategies during Go-To-Market moments, both global teams and directly EU CMA partners.
  • Work closely with EU DTC Retail and E-commerce teams to share monthly drops and review current collection developments.
  • Deliver in-store and virtual (Teams) product training sessions to retail teams to support the launch of new collection drops.

What you bring to the table

  • Bachelor/Master in Business and/or Fashion and at least a recent five to eight years of relevant experience in selection or/and product development buying in a fashion business.
  • Experience with collaborating with Design and Merchandise Planning to ensure the right assortment is selected.
  • Weekly Retail and E.com trading is at the core of what you do and you do everything you need to achieve net sales and EBITDA.
  • Analytical skills to understand current trade and future buying needs.
  • Consumer- and solution-oriented.
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Fully comfortable working in English.
