Software engineer high-tech systems

As a software engineer, you are involved in the development of systems that, for example, improve animal welfare or drive progress in the semiconductor industry.

At Demcon High Tech Systems, you work for a wide range of clients across different market segments. The work is diverse: one time you may be working on a research and analysis tool for the semiconductor industry, and another time you might contribute to the development of a smart water meter. This diversity of clients is reflected in the challenging technical solutions you work on, ranging from microcontrollers and PLCs to PC applications, with one key commonality: you are always controlling hardware.

You work within a project team alongside other experts in software, mechanics, electronics, and systems engineering. In this role, you act as the connecting link for the software discipline within the multidisciplinary project team, the project manager, and the client.

What are you going to do?

In this role, you are responsible for tasks such as:

• Aligning software requirements and specifications with the client and the systems engineer, and translating these into a software architecture;
• Communicating the software architecture in clear and understandable terms to the client, project manager, and team members;
• Planning the software work package, executing the work, and leading the software development team towards the desired result.

What do you bring to the table?

• You have a technical background at HBO or WO level in electrical engineering, software engineering, or a related field;
• You have gained experience in technical software development across different projects;
• You have strong organizational skills and are able to turn chaos into structure;
• You are familiar with one or more programming languages such as C, C++, C#, Python, and Structured Text across different platforms such as Windows, PLC, Beckhoff TwinCAT, Bachmann, and microcontrollers such as STM32;
• You have experience with software development methodologies and tools such as Scrum, Jira, CI/CD, Git, Docker, etc.;
• You are a strong communicator and know how to effectively deploy people and resources to achieve goals;
• In addition, you are analytical, have strong conceptual thinking skills, are customer-oriented, results-driven, hands-on, and a true team player.
