Information Security Officer Internship

Siemens is seeking a highly motivated student to join the Product & Technology department as an Information Security Officer (ISO) Intern, supporting the Mendix R&D team. This internship offers the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in information security compliance, risk management, and governance within a dynamic global technology company.

As an ISO Intern, you'll contribute to real-world security initiatives that directly impact products and customers. You'll work with experienced professionals, gain practical experience, expand your professional network, and help ensure systems are secure and compliant.

The Opportunity

We are seeking an aspiring student with a strong interest in cybersecurity and information security governance to support the Mendix R&D team. This is a unique opportunity to dive deep into information security compliance, risk management, and governance within Siemens Software.

What You'll Do

• Support information security risk assessments by assisting with identifying vulnerabilities, suggesting appropriate risk treatments, and preparing status and risk reports for the Chief Information Security Officer (CISO).
• Contribute to security incident response by supporting the documentation and distribution of incident responses and escalation procedures.
• Monitor and analyze security alerts to help identify issues and guide relevant teams on resolution.
• Assist with compliance monitoring to help ensure information security standards are met and support remediation efforts when compliance gaps are identified.
• Participate in internal and external audits by contributing to preparation and execution.
• Promote security awareness by helping implement awareness programs and acting as a point of contact for security policies and procedures.
• Continuously learn and develop knowledge in information security, industry best practices, and emerging technologies.

What You'll Bring

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Cybersecurity, Information Technology, or a related field at an accredited institution.
• Strong academic record and demonstrated interest in information security.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
• A proactive attitude and eagerness to learn and take initiative in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong problem-solving skills and meticulous attention to detail.
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
• Familiarity with, or a strong desire to learn about, control frameworks like PCIDSS and ISO/IEC 27001/27002.

Bonus Points If You Have

• Previous coursework or projects related to information security, network security, or data privacy.
• Relevant certifications or participation in cybersecurity-related clubs or activities.
• Experience with scripting languages such as Python or a basic understanding of IT infrastructure.
