Job Description

The Trade Term Controller – Western Europe is a regional trade spend control and governance role focused on ensuring accurate, consistent, and transparent management of rebate and trade spend financials across Western Europe.

The role acts as a key regional support and coordination function within the Trade Spend organization, working closely with Revenue Growth Managers, Finance BPs, FP&A, and Rebate & Trade Spend Managers. It combines Rebate & Trade Spend control expertise with hands-on operational support, enabling high-quality reporting, strong internal controls, and consistent application of Rebate & Trade Spend processes across the WE zone. The role also supports selected trade spend reviews and analytical deep-dives where additional regional expertise is required.

Minimum required Education:

Bachelor's / Master's Degree in Finance, Strategy, Auditing, Accounting or equivalent.

Minimum required Experience:

Minimum 7 years of experience with Bachelor's in areas such as finance, controlling, FP&A, audit, or commercial finance.

Your role:

Trade Spend Governance & Transparency

  • Ensure clear and consistent visibility of trade spend positions (accruals, commitments, actuals, phasing) across customer, country and zone level
  • Support high-quality reporting of Year-to-Date and Year-to-Go Rebate & Trade Spend positions
  • Identify inconsistencies, risks, and data quality issues and support resolution with relevant stakeholders

Process & Control Ownership

  • Ensure adherence to internal control standards (incl. SOX / SAL07/ SAL98 requirements) for Rebates & Trade Spend processes
  • Support documentation, control execution, and audit readiness across Western Europe
  • Contribute to standardization and simplification of Rebate & Trade Spend processes

Close Activities (QEC / YEC)

  • Support quarterly and year-end close processes, including review of balances, phasing, and accrual adjustments
  • Ensure consistent application of agreed accounting and documentation standards

Business Support & Capability Building

  • Support Rebate & Trade Spend Managers with analysis, reviews, and complex trade spend topics where needed
  • Contribute to capability building through guidance, knowledge sharing, and harmonization across countries
  • Act as a regional point of expertise for trade spend topics and analytical support

Project Ownership & Initiatives

  • Lead or co-lead regional projects related to trade spend, rebate processes, reporting, and internal controls
  • Drive cross-country harmonization initiatives and implementation of best practices
  • Support system, reporting, and process improvement initiatives (e.g., automation, standardization, data quality)
  • Coordinate stakeholders across Finance, FP&A, Commercial, and country teams to deliver agreed project outcomes
  • Ensure timely execution and measurable impact of assigned regional initiatives

You're the right fit if:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, or related field
  • 7+ years of experience in finance, controlling, FP&A, audit, or commercial finance
  • Strong understanding of financial processes, controls, and Rebate & Trade Spend structures
  • AI Savy, Advanced analytical skills with strong Excel proficiency; SAP experience preferred
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills in a matrix organization
  • Hands-on mindset with ability to operate both at detail level and conceptual level
  • Experience in international or complex business environments is essential
