Introduction

Shape the digital engineering tools behind some of the world’s most advanced automated logistics systems.

Do you enjoy solving complex software challenges while collaborating with talented colleagues across different disciplines? Are you passionate about developing high-quality software and continuously expanding your technical expertise?

At Vanderlande, we are looking for a C# Software Engineer to help evolve our Engineering Suite of Tools (ESoT). These applications enable engineers around the world to design, configure, and optimize automated logistics systems in 3D. Your work will directly support the delivery of innovative solutions for airports, parcel operators, and distribution centers globally.

Whether you already have experience across all technologies listed below or are eager to further develop your expertise, we value potential, curiosity, and a growth mindset just as much as specific technical experience.

What will you be doing?

As a C# Software Engineer, you will contribute to the development and enhancement of Vanderlande’s System Designer, part of our Engineering Suite of Tools. Together with software architects, engineers, and stakeholders, you will create software solutions that support engineers throughout the design and implementation of automated logistics systems.

You will work in a collaborative environment where quality, innovation, security, and user experience are central to everything we build.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications that support engineering activities across Vanderlande.
  • Contribute to new features and enhancements for our 3D engineering and configuration tools.
  • Collaborate with software architects, product stakeholders, and fellow engineers to deliver scalable and reliable solutions.
  • Improve application quality through testing, code reviews, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Support the adoption of modern software development practices, including security-by-design, automated testing, and DevOps principles.
  • Contribute to the ongoing modernization and optimization of our software platform and technology landscape.

What do we ask from you?

You are a software professional who enjoys solving technical challenges, learning new technologies, and working collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.

Qualifications and experience

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Approximately 3-7 years of experience in software development.
  • Experience with C# and the .NET ecosystem.
  • Experience developing desktop applications using technologies such as WPF, WinForms, or similar frameworks.
  • Experience developing backend services, APIs, or other server-side components.
  • Strong communication skills in English; Dutch language skills are highly preferred.

Technical expertise

Experience in some of the following areas is highly valued:

  • C# (.NET) application development.
  • WPF, XAML, and modern desktop application development.
  • Backend development and Web APIs.
  • Azure cloud services.
  • Asynchronous programming and performance optimization.
  • LINQ, ProtoBuf, and related development frameworks.
  • Version control using Git and modern CI/CD practices.
  • Secure software development principles and application security.
  • Agile development methodologies, including SAFe.
  • Experience with C++ and database technologies such as SQL Server or PostgreSQL is considered an advantage but is not required.

Who you are

  • Curious, eager to learn, and motivated to continuously improve.
  • Proactive and adaptable in a changing environment.
  • A collaborative team player who values different perspectives and ideas.
  • Analytical and solution-oriented, with a strong focus on quality.
  • Comfortable working with stakeholders from different disciplines and backgrounds.
  • Passionate about creating software that makes a meaningful impact.

About the team

You will join a team of approximately 20 colleagues within the ICT Applications department. Together, the team develops, maintains, and supports business-critical applications used by more than 2,000 employees worldwide across multiple engineering disciplines.

The team supports colleagues working in areas such as layout engineering, mechanical engineering, controls engineering, simulation, and electromechanical design. By developing innovative engineering tools, the team enables faster, smarter, and more efficient delivery of Vanderlande solutions globally.

You will be surrounded by experienced professionals who actively support knowledge sharing, collaboration, and continuous learning.
