What you are going to do

In this role, your focus is on developing, maintaining, testing, and improving the customer data API integrations within the Customer Data Platform. Alongside this, you support the team with data engineering-related tasks and help set up and improve DevOps and release pipelines that enable efficient development and deployment.

You will:

  • Design, build, maintain, and improve Customer Data Integration APIs using Python and technologies such as Databricks, Azure Function Apps, and related Azure services
  • Set up and improve Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines to automate build, test, release, and deployment processes
  • Work closely with the Data Engineering & Platform team to design and implement end-to-end data integration solutions
  • Collaborate with engineers across business units and other countries to enable stable, scalable, and well-documented customer data integrations
  • Translate business and technical requirements into robust, maintainable solutions
  • Implement monitoring, logging, and alerting to ensure observability, reliability, and production readiness of APIs
  • Ensure API quality, performance, security, access control, lifecycle management, and cost efficiency
  • Migrate legacy customer data APIs to the new architectural standards of the Customer Data Platform

Who you are

You are a hands-on Software Engineer with strong Python engineering experience, a solid engineering mindset, and a passion for building reliable, scalable, and production-ready data integrations. You enjoy working at the intersection of software engineering, data engineering, and DevOps, and take ownership of solutions from development through operations. You bring:

  • 3+ years of experience as a software engineer/developer
  • Strong hands-on experience with Python, including writing clean, testable, and maintainable code for APIs
  • Experience designing and building APIs and backend services using Python frameworks and libraries
  • A solid understanding of API design principles, versioning, authentication/authorization, and lifecycle management
  • Experience setting up and working with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices, with a focus on automation, reliability, and reproducibility
  • Familiarity with testing strategies (unit, integration), monitoring, logging, and operational support for production systems
  • Practical experience with Azure services such as Azure Function Apps, Azure Key Vault, etc.
  • Hands-on experience with Azure networking and security, including VNets, private endpoints, network security groups, firewall, traffic protection and secure exposure of APIs
  • Experience working in Agile teams and collaborating closely with data engineers, platform teams, and stakeholders
  • A willingness to learn about and work with new and innovative technologies such as Databricks Lakebase and Databricks Apps

Who you will work with

You will join the Customer Data Management Office within the Customer & Digital domain. In this role, you collaborate closely with a diverse set of teams that together shape and operate NN’s customer data landscape.

You will work with:

  • The Data Management team, on customer data definitions, business rules, data quality standards, and data exchange requirements
  • The SAP BP team, responsible for managing the golden source for customer master data
  • The AI Centre of Excellence (AI CoE), enabling high-quality data delivery for analytics and AI-driven solutions
  • Engineering teams across multiple platforms (Bank, Non-Life, Pensions, and International), to drive platform-wide consistency and uniform customer data integrations
  • The Engineering Guild, where you contribute to shared best practices, standards, and ongoing engineering maturity
  • Various teams within and outside the Customer & Digital domain, to design and implement robust, reusable customer data integrations

You will also work closely with Security and NonFinancial Risk teams to ensure the platform meets all security, regulatory, and compliance requirements. A key part of your role is embedding securebydesign principles into the platform by automating controls, monitoring, and risk mitigating measures as part of the delivery process.

In addition, you will work closely with the Data & AI Platform team within Customer & Digital, as well as with central platform teams that provide shared services such as CDAAS (Continuous Delivery As A Service). You will also be an active member of the Engineering Guild, connecting with engineers across NN Group to share knowledge, align practices, and contribute to continuous improvement.
