Who you’ll work with

At Bain & Company, Senior Managers are investigative, creative, thoughtful managers and collaborators who work together as an integrated team, delivering extraordinary outcomes for clients. In this role, you will oversee the formulation and implementation of strategic recommendations to improve client performance by providing thought leadership and daily oversight to your case team while collaborating closely with clients. Your analytical, interpersonal, creative thinking, process management, business acumen, and leadership skills will be called upon from day one. Senior Managers assume responsibility for value creation and delivery of key client recommendations, provide leadership, coaching, and supervision to case team members, and build and strengthen client relationships.

What you’ll do

  • Quickly join and lead case teams serving clients across assignments that are complex in scale and scope, intellectually demanding, and highly deadline driven.
  • Work closely with clients to drive action and impact.
  • Be intimately involved in each client’s organization and industry, working on complex business problems.
  • Identify value creation opportunities in each client situation.
  • Drive analysis, design, and implementation of solutions, develop tailor-made solutions, and work closely with clients.
  • Provide intellectual and thought leadership to the team to ensure the highest quality of analytical and conceptual output.
  • Gather and analyze information, formulate and test hypotheses, and develop recommendations for presentation to client management, then work with clients to implement change and achieve desired outcomes.
  • Build and maintain consensus with clients on case goals, critical issues, workplan, implications, recommendations, and implementation plans.
  • Develop and secure client commitment to recommendations and implementation plans.
  • Cultivate talented groups of people, collaborate with multiple teams, and manage and mentor teams.
  • Effectively manage the formal and informal professional development of case team members by supporting appropriate skills development plans, providing coaching, and delivering regular performance feedback.
  • Organize the work of the team by allocating clear responsibilities among case team members while balancing delivery of case team goals with the professional development and satisfaction of individual team members.
  • Contribute to key firm-building initiatives, including practice or capability area knowledge building and IP generation, training, recruiting, mentorship, and office initiatives.

Integration support

To ensure new Senior Managers are well equipped for a smooth start to a successful career, Bain offers best-in-class integration support spanning the first 12–18 months of your career at Bain.

The integration plan focuses on three key pillars of success:

  • Strong support from an Integration Steering Committee of experienced Bain colleagues acting collectively to support your growth and development at Bain. This includes active support to help you get involved in client engagements, initiate and expand your network at the firm, clarify and address your questions, and provide feedback. Your integration will also be supported by a dedicated mentor, a senior member of the leadership team, local practice leadership, and a colleague friend.
  • A comprehensive onboarding plan focused on building your Bain capabilities for long-term success. This can include playing a variety of roles on teams for short periods of time, sometimes starting with a Consultant role or shadowing a current Senior Manager, if needed, to quickly learn the Bain craft and progress to the full skill set of a Bain Senior Manager.
  • Bain learning through on-the-job experiences, peer-to-peer experience sharing, and formal global training programs.

About you
