By 2030, 150 million people will be able to prevent or resolve their most pressing justice problems. Do you want to join us on our mission?

The Hague Institute for Innovation of Law (HiiL), a civil society organisation dedicated to people-centred justice and SDG 16.3, is looking for a Partnership Developer - Private Sector. The position is at the The Hague office.

As Partnership Developer - Private Sector, you will lead and coordinate HiiL’s engagement with private sector partners, translating justice needs into concrete collaboration models with companies. You will work closely with the Director of Innovation, Director of Business Development, Programme Directors, Innovation teams, and senior management to build partnerships that accelerate impact and strengthen HiiL’s financial sustainability. HiiL operates primarily across Africa and the Middle East.

Do you enjoy building relationships with companies around complex societal challenges? Can you translate strategy into concrete partnership offers and manage multiple stakeholder relationships at once? Are you comfortable operating at the intersection of impact, innovation, and business development in an international environment? If so, this position might be what you are looking for.

How will you contribute to HiiL’s mission?

Private sector engagement & partnerships

  • Develop and manage HiiL’s private-sector engagement portfolio, including pro bono partnerships, direct sponsorships, strategic partnerships, and innovation consortia.
  • Act as a key point of contact for private sector partners, building trusted, long-term relationships at both working and senior levels.
  • Translate HiiL’s programmes, innovation labs, and accelerator activities into clear and compelling partnership propositions for companies.
  • Support the piloting, validation, and scaling of private sector engagement models.

Business development & deal-making

  • Identify, approach, and qualify potential corporate partners across sectors such as technology, finance, insurance, professional services, and consumer goods.
  • Coordinate exploratory conversations, proposal development, and contracting processes with partners.
  • Develop sponsorship packages, partnership prospectuses, and consortium value propositions.

Coordination, delivery & reporting

  • Ensure effective coordination between private sector partners and internal HiiL teams during partnership delivery.
  • Monitor partnership commitments, deliverables, and timelines, ensuring alignment with justice impact objectives.
  • Track financial and in-kind contributions and support reporting on partnership value, impact, and lessons learned.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and partner records, contributing to CRM use and internal reporting.

Learning, positioning & ecosystem building

  • Contribute to HiiL’s thought leadership on private sector engagement.
  • Support the organisation of convenings, roundtables, and events to strengthen HiiL’s private sector network.
  • Actively contribute to internal learning on partnership models, sharing insights and best practices across teams.

What we look for in our new colleague

  • 5+ years of relevant work experience in private sector engagement, partnerships, business development, or corporate relations, preferably in an international or mission-driven context.
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. international relations, business, economics, law, or innovation).
  • Demonstrated experience working with corporate partners and navigating different incentives, decision-making processes, and timelines.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex societal challenges into clear partnership opportunities.
  • A proactive, results-oriented mindset, comfortable with ambiguity and early-stage model development.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills in English; additional languages (e.g. Arabic, French, or Dutch) are an asset.
  • High ethical standards and strong judgement, with sensitivity to reputational and mission-alignment risks.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally to countries where HiiL works.
  • EU citizenship or a valid NL work permit.

What else

  • An opportunity to be at the forefront of building new forms of collaboration between the justice sector and the private sector.
  • A mission-driven organisation where the work you do contributes directly to fairer, more accessible justice systems.
  • A dynamic and international team of 70+ professionals.

We offer you

  • Starting date: in mutual agreement.
  • A part-time (32 hours p.w.) position for an initial period of 12 months, with the intention to build a long-term working relationship.
  • A monthly gross salary for a full-time working week between €4.200,- / €5.600,- based on relevant experience and seniority.
  • Up to 8 weeks of holidays when working full-time.
  • Pension coverage by ABP Pension Fund.
  • A company laptop and an NS card for commuting.

Note: All offers of employment will be subject to satisfactory reference checks and may be subject to appropriate screening checks.

Our mission: by 2030, 150 million people will be able to prevent or resolve their most pressing justice problems.
