Purpose of the role

As a Senior Specialist - SAP Basis Architect, you will work with a globally diverse set of teams that includes Systems, Applications, and Products (SAP) Basis, Security, Advanced Business Application Programming (ABAP), SAP functional team members, Infrastructure team and other IT process partners providing support for existing and new initiatives.

You will work closely with and advise the SAP Technical Architect on architectural topics and new applications/technologies to be introduced.

You will lead cross-functional projects, answer complex questions, assist with program-wide initiatives, and lead technical initiatives while remaining hands-on.

Key responsibilities

• Work closely with and manage the planning, execution, and delivery of activities to be performed by our service provider.
• Establish SAP-specific technical standards, technical strategy, and best practices to support implementation teams.
• Support product mapping exercises based on detailed analysis of requirements and produce SAP-specific solution specifications.
• Provide direction to Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Center of Excellence teams for solution realization and proactively join discussions relevant from a technical point of view.
• Lead project teams in partnership with Project Managers; review infrastructure requirements, system landscape design, and security integrations for required SAP modules.
• Evaluate SAP products offered by SAP and/or 3rd-party providers as part of ongoing and future product strategy.
• Work within and lead technical teams on issue resolution and performance tuning.
• Install, manage, patch, and upgrade SAP applications, including SAP client and system refreshes.
• Apply understanding of database administration, including DB replication and HA/DR processes.
• Perform SAP system monitoring and schedule jobs.
• Provide SAP product-specific guidance in integration and data architecture areas.

Your profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or another technology-related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience implementing SAP projects with hands-on SAP Basis experience, including SAP S/4HANA or ECC, BW, PI, Portals, Solution Manager, system upgrades, system/client refreshes, Disaster Recovery, and High Availability.
• Preferred: 3+ years of experience with SAP S/4HANA.
• Experience reviewing infrastructure requirements, system landscape design, and security integrations for required SAP modules.
• Experience evaluating SAP and 3rd-party products as part of ongoing and future product strategy.
• Ability to work within and lead technical teams on issue resolution and performance tuning.
• Experience installing, managing, patching, and upgrading SAP applications, including SAP client and system refreshes.
• Understanding of DB administration, including DB replication and HA/DR processes.
• Ability to work closely with SAP, vendors, and peer groups to stay current with ERP strategy and technology.
• Experience performing SAP system monitoring and scheduling jobs.
• SAP Basis experience supporting SAP S/4HANA deployments on cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, or Azure).
