Job Description

The Enterprise Data Director (externally referred to as Chief Data Officer - CDO) plays a strategic executive role, responsible for defining and implementing JDE Peet’s global data strategy - ensuring data is managed as a key corporate asset that enables value creation, operational excellence, and innovation.

Sitting within the Global IT (GIS) organization and reporting to the Global IT Director (CIO), this role partners cross-functionally with IT, business functions, compliance, and local markets to enable a truly data-driven organization.

You will lead the development of JDE Peet’s enterprise data strategy across governance, quality, architecture, literacy, and AI-readiness, while fostering a culture of data accountability, insight, and innovation across the company.

In this role you will:

Lead and Shape the Data Strategy

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive enterprise data strategy aligned with business goals and digital transformation ambitions.
  • Define the target data operating model, including roles, responsibilities, and data capabilities across the enterprise.
  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing global team of data professionals.
  • Continuously evolve JDE Peet’s data capabilities, ensuring readiness for AI and next-generation analytics.

Drive Governance, Quality, and Compliance

  • Define and implement data governance policies across ownership, stewardship, quality, and lifecycle management.
  • Ensure data is accurate, consistent, and compliant with regulations such as GDPR.
  • Strengthen data quality and integrity across structured and unstructured data sources.
  • Partner with Legal, Compliance, and IT to embed privacy-by-design principles.

Architect and Scale Data Platforms

  • Design and manage a scalable hybrid data architecture integrating structured and unstructured data (e.g. SAP S/4 HANA, Salesforce, OT data).
  • Oversee data platform selection and implementation, in alignment with global technology strategy.
  • Manage external system integrators to ensure cost-effective, high-quality delivery and support.
  • Enable adoption of advanced analytics, AI, GenAI, and Agentic AI technologies.

Foster Data Literacy & Business Adoption

  • Act as the internal evangelist for data as a strategic asset, driving awareness and adoption across all functions.
  • Implement data literacy programs and promote self-service analytics.
  • Measure and communicate the business value of data initiatives - from revenue growth to risk reduction.
  • Lead the organization’s readiness to scale AI and monetize data assets.

Build a Data-Driven Culture

  • Establish a global network of data stewards and local data owners.
  • Create forums for sharing best practices and innovation in data management.
  • Promote collaboration and transparent data-driven decision-making across the business.

Qualifications

We are looking for a visionary data leader with a passion for transforming data into business value. You are both a strategist and an operator - capable of driving enterprise-scale change while inspiring teams and stakeholders around a shared vision.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring:

  • Master’s degree in Business, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • 10+ years of progressive experience in enterprise data management within global organizations.
  • Proven experience building data governance, quality, and architecture at scale.
  • Strong understanding of business operations and cross-functional value drivers.
  • Track record of leading large-scale transformation and fostering a data-driven culture.
  • Exceptional communication skills - able to translate complex data concepts for non-technical audiences.

Preferred:

  • Experience in CPG, retail, or similar complex environments.
  • Familiarity with modern data platforms (e.g. Snowflake, Azure, GCP) and data cataloging tools.
  • Experience applying AI, ML, GenAI, and emerging Agentic AI use cases.
