Solution Architect
Job purpose
This role is part of DEPT®’s Design & Technology / Experience & Engineering teams across the Benelux and Nordics (BENO) region. We combine data, technology and creative design to solve complex business problems, deliver high‑quality digital platforms, and create meaningful customer experiences for ambitious local and international brands.
As a Solution Architect, you understand the business behind development and know what works for customers—and what does not. You operate at the intersection of strategy, technology, and delivery, translating complex requirements into future‑ready architectural solutions that are both feasible and impactful.
What you’ll do
- Apply deep experience to translate complex business with required capabilities into one or more coherent architectural solutions.
- Take responsibility for the technical design of customer solutions, without losing sight of feasibility, cost, risk, security, and operational stability.
- Set the direction for future‑ready solutions using DEPT® principles: cloud‑first, best‑of‑breed, proven technology, and quality‑driven development.
- Guide clients toward their digital future while enabling delivery teams to execute with clarity and confidence.
- Act as a trusted technical advisor for clients, steering discussions with strong communication and stakeholder‑management skills.
- Help clients improve architectural maturity (e.g. commerce, content, data, integration), and evangelize best practices within DEPT® and at our clients.
- Define target architectures and implementation roadmaps, including phased migration and evolution strategies.
- Drive scalability, resilience, and reusability by applying and promoting architectural best practices.
- Prepare and facilitate workshops and technical deep dives to identify requirements, perform maturity and align stakeholders.
- Conduct Fit-Gap Analysis to evaluate the alignment between the Target State Architecture and Business Requirements.
- Support commercial activities by contributing to technical sales pitches, solution scoping, and ownership of proposed architectures.
What you bring
- Solid experience in an architectural role, with a broad understanding of modern IT landscapes.
- A strong analytical and conceptual thinker, able to reason about architecture at both strategic and practical levels.
- Experience across Commerce, Content, Integration, Data, and Business Architecture domains.
- Knowledge of leading digital commerce and experience platforms is a plus.
- Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly through diagrams and concise, high-quality documentation, supported by explicit quality attributes.
- Familiarity with architectural practices and frameworks such as Architecture Decision Records (ADRs), design patterns, and C4 modelling, and the discipline to use them consistently to drive alignment and long-term maintainability.
- Demonstrated technical breadth across the digital landscape—from e-commerce and DXP platforms to API-driven ecosystems and cloud-native architectures.
- Strong hands-on understanding of at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud).
- A mindset that consistently accounts for security, privacy, performance, and reliability in architectural decisions.
- Curiosity and appetite for using AI as an assistant in architectural work, from analysis and documentation to exploration of solution options, and the ability to translate AI-driven insights into concrete value for clients.
- Willingness to share and discuss AI-driven ideas and opportunities with clients and teams, helping shape how emerging technologies responsibly enhance digital architectures.
- Experience working with external clients in project-based environments, ideally within a digital agency or consultancy.
- Fluency in English; additional local languages within the Benelux or Nordics (BENO) are a strong plus.
We offer
- A flexible, hybrid working policy (2-3 days from the office, depending on location).
- DEPT®/YOU Learning Menu and DEPT®/YOU Special Programs. Develop your skills with courses and programs tailored to your needs.
- Stay happy and healthy with a contribution to your health through the OpenUp platform, gym and wellness discounts, and healthy lunches at the office.
- A reputation for doing good. DEPT® has been a Certified B Corp® since 2021, has been named a Great Place To Work since 2022 in the Netherlands and named ‘Agency of the Year’ at both The Lovies and The Webby Awards.
- Awesome clients. Whether big, small, local or global — at DEPT® you’ll get the opportunity to work with all of them. And we celebrate all of our successes together!
