A Day in the Life

As a Sr AI/Data Science Engineer, you’ll play a pivotal role in designing and building cutting-edge data pipelines and lead diabetes clinical research efforts in a data rich environment. This is an exciting opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams, solve complex challenges, and improve the lives of those within the global diabetes community.

Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned:

  • Design, plan, execute device data management plans for clinical research projects.
  • Design, development, evaluation and modification of computer programs to analyze and evaluate clinical data.
  • Implement data management plans designed to meet project and protocol deadlines.
  • Plan, execute and coordinate programming activities for database manipulations, transfer and analysis of data for internal and external clients.
  • Manage large projects or processes and exercise considerable latitude in determining deliverables of assignments with limited oversight from manager.
  • Data Quality & Governance: Implement data validation, monitoring, and alerting frameworks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and security of data assets.
  • Collaboration & Documentation: Understand requirements, translate business needs into technical solutions, and document data schemas, pipeline designs, and best practices.
  • Explore and integrate innovative data tools, including LLMs and agentic systems, into the existing data ecosystem to enhance analytics and automation.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Statistics or Data science.
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience within medical device industry or related roles.
  • Experience using clinical data management system (i.e. Oracle Clinical / Medidata and SQL) and data analysis (i.e. PYTHON, R, MATLAB and data visualization).
  • Extensive experience with data mining and processing.
  • Experience with version control systems, especially Git, including Git user interfaces (e.g., GitHub, GitLab).
  • Soft skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; effective verbal and written communication skills; customer-focused mindset with the ability to adapt to evolving needs; collaborative, proactive, and able to build trust with both internal and external stakeholders; comfortable navigating ambiguity and solving complex, large-scale problems; curious, resilient, and motivated to continuously improve and explore new solutions.

Desirable qualifications: Solid understanding of clinical device/drug development process. Understanding of data privacy and security standards (GDPR, HIPAA). Exposure to BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) and dashboard development.
