About the team

P&E organization at Mambu builds and evolves the platform capabilities and domain products that power regulated financial institutions at global scale. As we grow into an enterprise grade SaaS provider for Tier 1 banks, we are strengthening strategic technical governance and long horizon architecture leadership. This role leads a cohort of Principal Engineers, and partners across product engineering, platform engineering, product management, security, SRE, and customer facing teams to ensure our architecture stays scalable, secure, and customer agnostic while we modernize and expand across clouds.

Role: Director, Engineering

What you’ll do

• Lead and develop a team of Principal Engineers, aligning their work to the highest leverage product and platform outcomes.

• Own end to end architecture strategy across Product Engineering, ensuring consistent patterns, reference implementations, and codified architectural guardrails/processes that prevent drift across domains and shared platforms.

• Drive modernization and technical debt reduction through pragmatic sequencing, improving reliability, scalability, developer productivity, and delivery velocity.

• Set architectural direction for multi cloud execution across AWS and GCP, and lead the architectural strategy for migrating customers off Azure with minimal disruption.

• Own architecture governance mechanisms that enable speed with discipline: reference architectures, codified patterns, ADRs, and architecture reviews that remove ambiguity rather than add bureaucracy.

• Partner with Security, Privacy, Compliance, and Risk to ensure secure by design and compliant by default patterns, including enterprise needs like encryption and isolation.

What you’ll bring

• Deep financial services domain experience in regulated environments, with strong product engineering instincts and customer empathy.

• 12+ years of engineering experience with significant architecture leadership, including leading senior technical leaders (Principal, Staff, Architects).

• Strong distributed systems expertise, including multi tenant SaaS, data integrity, resilience, and performance at scale.

• Proven track record setting multi year technical strategy and executing modernization programs without stalling delivery.

• Hands on cloud architecture depth across AWS and GCP, plus experience shaping platform standards, IaC patterns, and operational readiness.

• Experience engaging directly with Tier 1 customers on security, compliance, encryption, and architecture assurance.
