The opportunity:

As an Application Engineer, you will provide technical expertise and hands-on support to our Sales team and customers, ensuring that each customer’s specific requirements are met with optimal JBT solutions. You’ll bridge the gap between innovation and customer value by helping shape and configure systems that enhance food processing performance.

Your mission is to:

• Provide technical expertise and guidance to customers and internal sales teams
• Identify and clearly communicate the customer value of JBT products
• Translate customer requirements into precise product specifications
• Prepare quotes and proposals, ensuring technical accuracy and commercial competitiveness
• Calculate cost and sales prices for equipment, customizations, and system configurations
• Support quotations for non-standard equipment and complex installations
• Coordinate between Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing to align expectations and delivery timelines
• Conduct site visits with Account Managers for layout creation and quote completion

You will play a key role in turning customer challenges into technical solutions, driving value, performance and satisfaction.

Main responsibilities:

Customer & Sales Support

• Assist Account Managers and Business Development Managers by responding to technical inquiries and providing detailed product knowledge
• Run on-site tests and assess additional costs for non-standard installations or adaptations
• Prepare and manage quotation packages, including layouts, technical descriptions, and pricing
• Calculate cost structures and sales pricing, ensuring competitive and profitable proposals
• Support in quoting new opportunities involving complex or multiple assets

Technical expertise

• Develop and maintain deep technical knowledge of JBT product lines and their integration across other product families
• Ensure all customer requirements are fully understood and translated into accurate technical specifications
• Approve technical specifications and adapt JBT products to fit customer requirements

Collaboration & Training

• Prepare and deliver technical presentations and demonstrations for customers
• Train Account Managers on new products and features to enhance consultative selling
• Work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Operations to ensure seamless project execution

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

• Contribute to product development decisions through technical feedback
• Identify opportunities for innovation and value creation based on customer needs
• Drive continuous improvement by sharing insights and lessons learned

Your profile:

• Degree in Engineering, Food Technology, or a related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
• Strong understanding of technical standards and regulations in the food processing industry
• Ability to interpret customer product and process requirements
• Excellent communication skills, able to translate complex technical details into clear, accessible information
• Proven experience troubleshooting and solving technical issues in real time
• Strategic and innovation-driven mindset focused on long-term value creation
• Proactive, organized, and comfortable working both independently and in cross-functional teams
• Fluent in English (additional languages are a plus)
• Commitment to travel to support customer visits, tests, and installations
