About the role

Category Manager E-Commerce - Trading Cards

Trading Cards isn’t just a category on Catawiki. It’s a culture, a fandom, a global economy built on hype cycles, nostalgia, rarity, and pure collector energy. Think Pokémon, Magic: The Gathering, sports cards, K-pop cards, limited releases, graded grails, and the kind of niche drops you only hear about if you’re plugged into the community. It moves fast, it grows fast, and the commercial potential is massive.

As Category Manager, you’re basically running your own business inside Catawiki. You see opportunities before others do, you know how to turn data into revenue, and you influence people around you to get things moving. You’ll lead a team of card-obsessed experts, scale high-value supply, elevate the buyer experience, and keep the category buzzing with momentum. If you thrive in a space where culture and commerce collide, this role is pure adrenaline.

What You’ll Do

  • Build and own the growth strategy for Trading Cards
  • Turn dashboards into decisions that drive pricing, supply, conversion, and weekly performance
  • Shape auction planning around hype cycles, drops, seasonality, collector behaviour, and market opportunities
  • Spot commercial gaps, test ideas, and scale what works
  • Grow and activate a strong seller pipeline in close partnership with Sales
  • Lead, develop, and coach an international (remote) team of Trading Card Experts
  • Influence internal stakeholders to remove blockers and accelerate growth
  • Build relationships with top sellers and high-intent buyers
  • Work cross-functionally to amplify category results
  • Track global trends, grading shifts, and movements in the collector economy
  • Own the category P&L and make decisions that improve revenue and margin

What You’ll Bring

  • A sharp commercial mindset and the ability to spot business opportunities quickly
  • A data-driven approach; dashboards don’t intimidate you and you know how to turn insights into action
  • The confidence to influence others and get alignment across teams
  • Natural leadership and the ability to bring clarity and drive to your expert team
  • Entrepreneurial energy; you build things, experiment, and don’t wait to be told
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment
  • Strong communication skills, especially when you need buy-in
  • Comfort using Google Suite or similar tools
  • Curiosity for trading cards or collector culture is a plus (no need to be a walking Pokédex)
