Senior Lead Data Platform Engineer

What you are going to do

In this role, you will develop the platforms necessary to meet the data needs of our business units. You will also:

• Implement scalable data pipelines, ETL processes and data storage solutions
• Ensure data quality and integrity through data validation and transformation processes
• Turn requirements into working solutions by collaborating with data scientists, analysts and other stakeholders
• Boost performance and cost efficiencies by monitoring and optimizing data workflows
• Lead and inspire mid-level and junior engineers

Who you are

You are an experienced data engineer capable of working comfortably across data and platform engineering projects. Proactive, with a passion for technology, you exhibit excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail. You collaborate easily with cross-functional teams and stakeholders and are able to convey complex ideas simply and drive innovation and continuous improvement around you. As a leader, you can empower your team to deliver high-quality code and reach its goals. You also have:

• At least 6 years of experience in a similar role and a bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field
• Proven track record in coaching and leading high-performing engineering teams
• A DevOps mindset, knowledge of Engineering design patterns, best practices and experience building data pipelines and platforms using Databricks on Azure or AWS
• Extensive experience with languages and frameworks such as Python, SQL, and (Py)Spark
• Solid understanding of Data Platform concepts with hands-on experience designing and building ETL pipelines
• Familiarity with an Agile environment where collaboration and continuous improvement are foundational
• Knowledge of data modeling techniques such as 3NF, dimensional modeling, and medallion architectures

Who you will work with

You will be part of a large team that supports all Dutch business units. Our teams work in so-called Sprints with a product owner and collaborate closely with data scientists, cloud engineers and data management specialists. All our tech departments are international, and English is the working language.
