We are looking for a Business Analyst and Data Engineer to join our Commercial Center of Excellence team.

Job purpose
The Hybrid Data Analyst & Data Engineer role sits at the intersection of commercial data analysis and data engineering, with a primary focus on enriching Barentz's global commercial datasets and extracting actionable insights. You'll be instrumental in shaping our commercial strategy by providing deep analytical insights, while also possessing the technical prowess to integrate diverse commercial data sources into our global Kimball-based data warehouse models. You’ll work as part of the Commercial Center of Excellence department and collaborate with sales, finance, supply chain, and IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct in-depth data analysis of margin performance and optimization, pricing, customer churn and retention and all other commercial matters to identify trends, opportunities, and areas for improvement. Present findings clearly and concisely to stakeholders, facilitating key business decisions.
Develop and maintain dashboards and reports: Design, build, and maintain interactive Power BI reports to make commercial insights accessible and understandable across the organization. Train and guide newly onboarded users.
Data integration and model enhancement: Collaborate with global and local data engineering teams on the ongoing design, development and optimization of our Kimball data warehouse models, specifically focusing on the commercial data domain. Integrate new data sources while ensuring data quality, consistency, and accessibility.
Ad-hoc analysis and problem-solving: Respond to urgent business requests for data and insights, providing quick and accurate analysis to support time-sensitive decisions.
About You
Education & Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Data/Analytics, or related field.
3+ years of experience in a Business Analyst, Business Translator, Product Owner, Data/Analytics Consultant, or similar role.
Proven experience working in cross-functional teams (business + IT/analytics).
B2B sector experience is a plus, particularly in distribution, wholesale, or ingredients.
Technical Skills
SQL & Python proficiency for ETL processes (experience with DBT is a plus).
Strong understanding of data warehousing concepts and experience with dimensional modelling (Kimball methodology highly preferred).
Extensive experience with BI Tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Looker.
Unified data platforms e.g., Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Snowflake.
Soft Skills
Business Acumen: Solid understanding of commercial business processes and key performance indicators.
Data analysis: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English (written and spoken); additional European languages are an asset in this multicultural role.
