Data Engineer

The Job

As a Data Engineer, you will play a critical role in empowering our market analysts and traders by providing data-driven insights that lead to smarter trading decisions. We also sell our market intelligence to third parties via a platform (webapp+mobile app) we have built and maintain ourselves, Ceras-Analytics. In this role, you will maintain, improve and expand our extensive library of over 100 automated Python scripts designed to collect key data. You will also be responsible for designing database structures (DDL), implementing them and fully automating ETL processes for both new projects and our existing datasets. These include over 30 billion records covering exports, imports, prices, weather and more.

You will manage projects from conception to completion, driving the development of new products. This will involve writing Python scripts, creating ETL processes on our PostgreSQL servers, combining and consolidating data from different sources and creating interactive dashboards in Qlik Sense. You will also automate reporting using Mail&Deploy to keep our platform up to date, regularly check in with stakeholders and automate workflows using our scheduling software. You will ensure that our web and mobile apps run smoothly for our hundreds of internal and external users. This includes: Fixing bugs, adding new features, adding new products, testing, release management in Azure Devops.

You are

Most important is that you're passionate about the above mentioned. We'd love to hear your thoughts on the tasks and responsibilities in the position. Ideally:

• You have at least 5+ years’ experience in similar role.
• You like data, programming, problem solving, ETL, creating new and improving existing things.
• You are responsible, accountable, will get it done. Even if you don't have the technical knowhow for an issue, you will get it and/or include people that have it.
• You are good with people, have excellent communication.
• Strong drive to want to know and learn more. Not afraid for new situations, new software.
• An excellent command of English (both verbally and written)
• You have entrepreneurial understanding. Meaning, that you can relate to our core business of commodity trade. It is not only about the 0's and 1's, but also about the best possible mix for people, planet and profit

Technical must haves

• You have strong working experience with SQL and Python
• Your education is in a technical field of study

Technical nice to haves

• Qlik Sense + Mail & Deploy (or other BI tool)
• Front end web-development: React
• Backend end web-development: Django
• Azure + Azure devops (or other cloud solution)
• Experience with automation
