Third Electrician

The Technical Department, under the responsibility of the Chief Engineer, is vital to the safe and efficient operation of the vessel. In accordance with International Maritime Organization (IMO) regulations, this department ensures compliance with standards for machinery maintenance, energy efficiency, and environmental protection. Its primary role is to maintain and operate all mechanical, electrical, and auxiliary systems on board, guaranteeing reliability and safety at sea. The department is tailored to each vessel and includes teams such as Deck Engineers, Warehouse, and Electricians.

Your role

As Third Electrician, you are essential to the safe and efficient operation of our vessels’ electrical systems and equipment. You’ll work on offshore projects worldwide, reporting to the Second and First Electrician, and collaborating with a skilled technical team.

Your responsibilities include:

  • Performing independent electrical watchkeeping duties and maintenance jobs under the supervision of the Second Electrician.
  • Executing maintenance and repairs on electrical equipment, using electrical drawings and loop/SLD diagrams to execute and verify tasks.
  • Acting as deputy for the Second Electrician when required by the Chief Engineer.
  • Carrying out tasks efficiently and in accordance with Allseas Integrated Management System (AIMS) standards.
  • Completing timely administration, including planned maintenance and statutory logbooks.
  • Ensuring that specific Permit to Work, Work Risk Assessment, and safety procedures are used, followed, and updated under supervision.
  • Ensuring all relevant electrical procedures and practices are followed, including Lock Out-Tag Out (LOTO).
  • Keeping all personal documentation, such as passport, seaman's book, medical certificate, CoC, and safety (STCW) training certificates, up-to-date and valid.
  • Performing duties as indicated on the station bill and fulfilling ship security duties.
  • Actively participating in handovers and updating electrical drawings and mark-ups following modifications.
  • Recording preventive maintenance activities and verifying post-maintenance functional tests.

When working on construction vessels, you will:

  • Assist the Construction Crew (Riggers, Crate Operators…) in the use of deck equipment.
  • Assist the ROV Sub Department when deemed necessary by the Chief Engineer.
  • Act as Trencher Operator when required.

You will also have the authority to stop the job if safety or compliance is at risk, in line with the Allseas Integrated Management System. Working at Allseas allows you the chance to work in a dynamic, fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, with creative thinking, collaboration, and a down-to-earth culture at its core.
