Within the Data Office, we have a team responsible for building impactful AI solutions. With these AI solutions, we help Schade & Inkomen to digitize important processes. As a Gen AI – ML Engineer, your main goal is to design, build and maintain orchestration components that enable advanced AI and agentic solutions. You will be at the core of how AI products operate, connecting models, data pipelines, and business processes through robust orchestration logic.
You’ll work closely with Data Scientists, Software Engineers, and Product Managers to deliver scalable, reliable AI systems that integrate seamlessly with NN’s enterprise platforms and deliver real business impact (e.g., claims automation, underwriting assistants, or customer contact optimization).
What are you going to do
When a claim or customer question arrives, you orchestrate its journey end-to-end: which model to invoke, when to pause for a human check, and how outcomes flow back into our core systems. You translate business rules into resilient AI workflows on orchestration platforms (and where it fits, Argo or Celery), stitching together modular, containerized pipelines for training, inference, and monitoring. Side by side with our data scientists, you turn solutions into production: co-designing interfaces and SLAs, building evaluation and feedback loops, and packaging models as reusable, versioned FastAPI services and shared libraries with tests, docs, and CI/CD templates, so the next use case ships faster.
You build and run the service layer that connects everything: Python/FastAPI APIs with clean contracts, messaging to keep systems decoupled and responsive, and robust observability so every step is traceable. You tune for scale and reliability, whether it’s large model inference, document processing, RAG/vector search, containerizing on Docker/Kubernetes and deploying to Azure (and where relevant AWS). Together with platform engineers, you apply MLOps/DevOps best practices (versioning, automated testing, CI/CD with Azure DevOps/GitHub, infrastructure as code) and embed security and compliance from day one: encryption, audit logs, model/version governance, threat modeling, and guardrails aligned with GDPR and the AI Act.
And you build for reuse and impact: standardizing components to NN’s engineering and risk standards, contributing orchestration assets to our internal AI marketplace, and shaping patterns the wider guild adopts. The result is a joint effort that turns ideas into dependable AI products, streamlining claims, supporting underwriting decisions, and improving customer contact, running smoothly across NN’s enterprise landscape.
What we offer you
We work hybrid at NN. Together with your team, you decide where, how and when you work.
Who you are
You are a pragmatic engineer who enjoys building reliable systems that make AI usable for the business. You combine an engineering mindset with a product orientation, and you communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Additionally, you have:
Who you will work with
The team you work with daily consists of a group of data scientists and software engineers, and a program manager who frames our activities. Together with these colleagues, we work daily with great enthusiasm and dedication to optimize and innovate customer service, processes, and quality, in close collaboration with the operational teams.
Additionally, you are a member of a guild where you exchange knowledge and experiences with peers. We believe that every engineer can learn something from peers and vice versa can teach something to others in the community. This way, you accelerate your career and deliver maximum value with our AI solutions.
This is a permanent position. A candidate will receive a contract from NN and we are not open to interim/freelance assignments and/or candidates or recruitment agencies. Thank you very much for your understanding.
