We are seeking a highly skilled Bioinformatics Scientist to join dsm-firmenich's Data Science & AI unit. You will join a team at the forefront of developing and deploying -omics analyses workflows and modeling & AI algorithms to innovate in health, nutrition, and beauty at dsm-firmenich.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain bioinformatics algorithms and workflows on cloud infrastructure.
  • Utilize Python and/or R and their most common libraries to build and optimize omics analysis methods.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate scientific requirements into scalable and user-friendly tools.
  • Perform trainings and demonstrations of tools developed for the scientific community.
  • Report and publish results internally and in scientific journals.
  • Apply modern tools such as git, AWS, Docker, relational data models, cloud-native computing, and API endpoints in your daily work.

You Bring

  • Ph.D. or similar experience (4 years) in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in omics data analysis and workflow development (CWL/Nextflow).
  • Demonstrated proficiency in scientific programming languages (Python/R) and their data science libraries.
  • Hands-on experience with AWS services, containerization, and databases.
  • Clear interest in computational and biotechnological developments in the microbial and microbiome omics domain.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex concepts to non-experts and provide actionable insights.
