Minimum qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering, related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of experience in mission critical facility design and construction environments.
• Experience in mechanical infrastructure.
• Ability to travel up to 15 to 30% of the time as needed.

Preferred qualifications:

• Master's degree in Engineering, Business or other relevant field or a professional engineering license.
• Experience in estimating, mechanical design, operation, and commissioning of mission critical data center mechanical equipment.
• Experience in design, construction, and commissioning of mechanical cooling plants, fire suppression systems, fuel oil systems, domestic water systems, and sanitary sewer systems in mission critical facility design and construction environment.
• Experience in designing complex modular building scale assemblies, with an understanding of mechanical tolerances and tolerance analysis.
• Knowledge of mechanical engineering and design principles with a focus on medium-scale production, structural beams/elements, and international building codes.

With your technical expertise, you ensure compliance with codes and standards, develop infrastructure improvements and serve as an expert in your specialty (e.g., cooling, electrical).

In this role you will provide and prepare all types of documents including: complex investigative assessments, across multiple layers of large-scale data, critical risk assessment input and critical de-risking recommendations at all business levels, summaries and presentations to facilitate decision making, scope of work, concept designs, design specifications, detailed integrated design deliverables, drawing markup, milestone reviews, total cost of ownership analysis, budget, schedule, system test and acceptance documents, and review and acceptance of as-builts and submittals.

Responsibilities

• Define data center system-level, product architecture, and Research and Development, while helping to develop operations and maintenance procedures for systems/processes.
• Conduct engineering analysis and research designs and methods of data center equipment and facilities.
• Ensure designs and installations meet requirements (e.g., predicted cooling, structural, operational concerns, etc.).
• Represent Google externally and internally at leadership levels with executive stakeholders.
• Demonstrate high complexity permitting processes.
