Role Overview:

Booking.com Customer Service Finance & Control department is looking for Junior CS Finance Specialists to join our multinational team based in our global HQ in Amsterdam.

The mission of CS Finance is to support and guide Customer Service through financial control, payment processing and compliance. As a Junior CS Finance Specialist, you will be a member of the CS Finance & Control Team, which is part of CS Global Support, located in Amsterdam. We have payment teams focusing on guest payments and on partner payments. You will report to the CS Finance Team Leader.

Ideally you are self-motivated, energetic and enthusiastic about providing excellent customer service to our guests and partners. Your key responsibility is processing payments by following our guidelines and procedures and by reviewing in accordance with compliance policies.

You need to stay focused and should really pay attention to financial details and numbers. Quick decisions need to be made and accuracy is key! Providing feedback to your stakeholders is part of the process in case you need to reject requests. The tasks and duties of this role may evolve over time. It is possible to develop and grow within the role and to take on additional challenges and responsibilities as they occur.

Key Job Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Support the team with daily operations and in maintaining an accurate payout process to our customers
  • Process payments according to our Service Level Agreement and by meeting KPIs
  • Handle escalated payment related queries (emails and tickets) from Customer Service colleagues
  • Categorize tickets and analyze data on trends and main call drivers by tracking & trending payment issues
  • Handle incoming tickets, investigate and resolve the request by either approving or rejecting the ticket
  • If rejecting the case, pass on feedback with the reason why you reject
  • Ensure the accuracy of the payments (required approvals, documentation, notes, procedures and guidelines, etc.)
  • Ensure internal control procedures are adhered to and are documented in accordance with the compliance standards and guidelines – attention for financial details (currencies, amounts) is a must
  • Complete all tasks in accordance with business policy and procedures

Qualifications & Skills:

  • 1+ years of relevant job experience
  • Previous exposure to a transactional banking or corporate finance environment is a plus
  • Excellent customer service & communication skills
  • Affinity with complaint handling
  • Comfortable with decision making
  • Excellent communication skills and proficient in both spoken and written English
  • Strong computer skills
  • Well organized and a strong ability to prioritize
  • Flexible and able to cope well with change
  • Self-motivated and results driven – used to work with targets and KPIs

  • Experience in an international, dynamic work environment background preferred
