Role Description

As a Senior Piping Engineer, you will analyze and assess specifications and technical requirements for integrated marine piping systems. You will develop, model, and optimize engineering packages, perform complex design reviews, and support stakeholders with technical challenges. In this position, you play a crucial role in project success and ensure technical quality within all applicable standards and regulations.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead a team of 3-6 other piping engineers.
  • Analyze and assess technical specifications and requirements for the integration of marine piping products, systems, and processes (materials, quality, environment, health, safety, design optimization).
  • Set up and model basic engineering packages in a 3D environment, compliant with maritime standards and regulations.
  • Develop detailed engineering packages and production information based on the basic research.
  • Coordinate outsourced engineering work, verifying the technical performance of subcontractors.
  • Implement improvements and updates to engineering packages and advise internal and external stakeholders.
  • Stimulate multidisciplinary collaboration to achieve the best project solutions.
  • Independently execute complex project elements and design reviews.
  • Coach and mentor less experienced colleagues, contributing to knowledge development within the team.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant requirements and regulations.
  • Contribute to evaluation and continuous improvement of departmental processes.
  • Support knowledge transfer and retention within the department.
  • Apply and comply with all HSSEQ / IMED policies and procedures.

Your Profile

  • Bachelor’s degree (EQF6) with at least 5-7 years relevant experience, or Master’s degree (EQF7) with at least 3-5 years relevant experience in a technical field.
  • Thorough knowledge of marine piping engineering, preferably within ships or offshore installations.
  • Extensive experience with 2D and 3D CAD systems and working on high-end (naval) vessels.
  • Experience with complex projects and interaction with statutory bodies.
  • Excellent command of Dutch and English (written & verbal).
  • Willingness to travel internationally, sometimes frequently and for extended periods.
