At Rabobank, we are dedicated to making a substantial impact on the financial world. We are seeking ambitious and talented individuals to join our Wholesale Banking traineeship track. This is an exceptional opportunity to kickstart your career and become a future leader in corporate finance.

Are you fascinated by the fast-paced world of financial markets? Do you thrive on solving complex problems, making data-driven decisions, and thinking strategically under pressure? Then this is your launchpad.

Join our Rabobank Traineeship Wholesale Banking track with a focus on Financial Markets. From day one, you’ll work alongside seasoned professionals, gain hands-on experience in Sales, Relationship Management, and Capital Markets, and build the skills to become a future leader in finance.

In the dynamic environment of Capital Markets in the heart of Rabobank’s Investment Bank, you will be working on complex financing transactions with a high impact for Rabobank’s Dutch and global clients (corporates, traders, sponsors, financial institutions and supra sovereign agencies), advising and assisting them in structuring and arranging (sustainable) Capital Markets products like bonds, syndicated loans, private placements and structured products.

The vibrant environment of Sales and Relationship Management is key in providing our clients access to financial markets. At the dealing room floor, you will be surrounded by energetic colleagues constantly making a difference for our client base on the asset classes of interest rates, FX, commodities and money markets. Dependent on the team you are in, you will focus on corporates, investors, other financial institutions or supranationals. The teams work closely together to achieve the optimal result for client and bank. We discuss and offer our clients solutions that range from simple plain-vanilla transactions to complex hedge strategies, all in order to assure the risks of our clients are well mitigated.

Your self-starting and entrepreneurial attitude is essential and will be an asset to our teams. You are truly interested in banking and financial products, and you like to work in a fast-paced environment. You are able to work on many projects at the same time in close cooperation with others. You build contacts with clients and prospects of the bank and keep very well up to date on market developments. Next to this you are stress resilient, maintain a good internal network, and take the lead in the preparation and execution of pitches or transactions.

Making a difference

If this triggers you, imagine yourself rotating in these teams and making a difference by:

Capital Markets

  • Structuring, origination and execution of transactions.
  • Preparing client visits and pitches.
  • Collecting & analyzing client data & generating ideas for transaction opportunities.
  • Contribute to the due diligence & legal documentation process.
  • Maintaining relationships with various external parties such as clients, lawyers, other banks and with other business units within Rabobank.

Sales & Relationship Management

  • Assisting in originating new business and pitching hedge solutions to our clients.
  • Supporting our clients in their decision-making by providing and discussing market intelligence and updates for the different asset classes.
  • Maintain close relationships with our clients such that we hear about what is on client’s mind and are able to assist.
  • Managing transactions by involving the relevant internal and external stakeholders, such as lending, legal, compliance and risk department, as well as external advisors, lawyers and other banks.

Your development as a trainee

In the Rabobank Traineeship, you will work on your personal development for 18 months. This includes personal leadership, relevant skills, and various themes such as sustainability, as well as learning how a bank operates. You will meet fellow trainees from different departments weekly, and on other days you will work within your own team. Through rotations and assignments, you will get to know a large part of the bank. You will be guided by a Young Talent Manager, who will challenge you to reflect and delve deeper into your development.

Are you ready to go beyond expectations in the world of Wholesale Banking and become the best version of yourself? This is your chance.

You and your talent

We are curious about your motivation, interests, and passion. Why are you suitable for our program, and what appeals to you? We would love to read this in your application! Therefore, we ask you to answer the following 3 questions in your letter:

Why do you choose a rotational traineeship, which offers a dynamic and ever-changing environment, over a fixed role in a more stable setting?

Why did you choose to apply for the Wholesale track and not the bank-wide possibilities?

What do you hope to learn during this traineeship concerning your personal development and why do you think this is important for you?
