Do you want to be responsible for one of Rijkswaterstaat’s most innovative maintenance programmes? For the WOUW programme - Waardengedreven Onderhoud Uiterwaarden - we are looking for an experienced Project Manager for the Rijntakken lot.

THE POSITION

In this role, you will lead an integrated lot team in which colleagues from Van Oord Asset Management, Rebel Group, and Rijkswaterstaat work together as one team. There is no traditional client-contractor relationship, but rather shared responsibility for results, budget, and societal value.

WOUW focuses on the sustainable and efficient maintenance of the floodplains along the major rivers. The task is both clear and complex: safe and natural floodplains for everyone, within a fixed budget and with room for learning, optimisation, and innovation.

YOUR IMPACT

As Project Manager Rijntakken, you are integrally responsible for the execution, steering, and further development of the lot. You operate in a politically and technically complex environment and move comfortably between strategy and execution. You will:

  • Lead the single lot team and safeguard the balance between Rijkswaterstaat and the contracting partners;
  • Steer value-driven choices: safety, nature, water quality, sustainability, and predictable maintenance;
  • Be responsible for delivery within the fixed budget, including prioritisation and optimisation;
  • Safeguard the link between asset management and maintenance, together with the asset managers in the team;
  • Act as a discussion partner for Rijkswaterstaat on progress, risks, scope changes, and future programming;
  • Create a working environment in which people want to remain committed to the programme.

YOUR WORK ENVIRONMENT

Working at Van Oord Asset Management within WOUW

Van Oord is one of the core partners within WOUW and believes in this way of working together: equal, transparent, and focused on societal value. Within this programme, you will have the opportunity to truly make a difference – both in terms of content and in how we collaborate within the Dutch water sector.

ABOUT YOU

You are a driven project manager with an eye for people, technology, and the environment. You are exceptionally capable of further developing the team to jointly achieve the set objectives in a safe working environment. In addition, you have excellent communication and social skills. You also bring:

  • Extensive experience as a project manager in the Dutch civil engineering (GWW) or water sector;
  • Experience with long-term maintenance programmes;
  • Strong capabilities in leading integrated and/or multidisciplinary teams;
  • Political/administrative sensitivity combined with strong substantive expertise.

WE OFFER

  • A distinctive role for a project manager who wants to steer on long-term value in the Dutch river area.
  • A salary that matches your responsibilities and experience;
  • 32 days of annual leave (of which a maximum of 7 are collective);
  • A company car;
  • A solid pension scheme;
  • A variable bonus, partly dependent on company performance;
  • Home-working allowance (€2.40 per day);
  • Flexible remote working arrangements: on a full-time basis, you can work from home 2 days per week;
  • Extensive development opportunities, including access to Goodhabitz’s comprehensive online academy.
At Van Oord, opportunities aren’t handed to you on a plate. You have to seek them out and take them. That’s exactly what I did.
