TenneT is growing rapidly to realize its strategic ambitions and plays a leading role in the energy transition. We are delivering multiple 2GW High Voltage DC (HVDC) Grid Connection Systems that will bring offshore wind power from the North Sea into the Dutch electricity grid up to 2031.

As a Technical Specialist Cable Installation, you will be responsible for overseeing and executing the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of cable systems for our clients. You contribute directly to these groundbreaking offshore projects and support project teams with expert knowledge throughout all phases of the project. Your expertise will ensure that all cable installations meet industry standards and client specifications, contributing to the reliability and performance of our services. In addition, you are responsible for:

• Technical support during all project phases – Provide specialist expertise during initiation, tendering, execution, and maintenance for all offshore cable installation and cable protection matters.
• Supervise and perform cable installation projects, including planning, layout, and execution.
• Conduct inspections and tests to verify the integrity and performance of installed cables.
• Diagnose and resolve technical issues related to cable systems.
• Industry knowledge & innovation – Stay up to date with offshore industry developments and represent TenneT in joint research initiatives (e.g., Joint Industry Projects). Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging technologies in cable installation.
• Building strong networks – Maintain internal and external professional networks to stimulate collaboration, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
• Lessons learned & continuous improvement – Actively gather insights from past projects to improve standards and processes across the 2GW program.
• Standards & requirements – Write, update, and maintain offshore cable installation and protection requirements together with specialists across the organisation.
• Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other team members to deliver high-quality results.
• Maintain accurate documentation of installation activities and system configurations.

You will join the Cable Engineering team, part of the Large Projects Offshore Netherlands unit, working with a group of highly skilled specialists dedicated to safe, innovative, and future-proof offshore grid development. What do you bring?

• Academic working and thinking level with a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Offshore Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a comparable field.
• Proven experience in cable installation or a related technical field.
• Hands-on offshore installation experience is a strong advantage.
• Experience with Orcaflex or similar FEM analysis software is a plus.
• Affinity or experience with offshore asset security is preferred.
• You are independent, proactive, and able to work effectively within multidisciplinary project teams.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to reflect on personal strengths and development areas.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Relevant certifications are a plus.
• Fluent in English, both spoken and written. Dutch proficiency at B1 level is considered an advantage.

We offer you:

• An undetermined contract or year contract with the possibility of extension based on 40 hours per week
• A salary in scale 9: € 4675 to € 9196 per month with 8% holiday allowance and 6% year-end bonus. Job grading is based on education, experience, knowledge and internal equity
• A solid pension via ABP: we pay 70% of your premium.
• 43 vacation days per year.
