As Unit Manager, you keep the team informed of the latest developments in security and the associated legislation and regulations. You are responsible for planning, coordinating operations, and setting clear priorities. You will closely monitor progress. Together with the three supervisors you manage, you assess the quality of the services delivered. And the manuals and work instructions? Thanks to your efforts, they are always up to date.

As Unit Manager Security, you are responsible for leading the security team and ensuring safety within the organization. You develop and implement security policies, coordinate security measures, and work with internal and external partners to minimize risks. You analyze incidents, prepare reports, and advise management on security improvements.

In addition, as Unit Manager you will:

  • Consult with stakeholders, including various departments, managers, the Royal Netherlands Marechaussee, and the Port Facility Security Officer.
  • Develop quality programmes to ensure that activities are carried out within defined frameworks.
  • Monitor, adjust, and optimise processes.
  • Ensure that all security staff hold the appropriate certifications.
  • Lead and coach the security team.
  • Develop and execute security policies.
  • Coordinate security measures and procedures.
  • Analyze incidents and prepare reports.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Advise management on security matters.

What we ask

Structured and accurate working practices are essential in this role. Because you supervise security personnel, strong coaching skills and the ability to guide colleagues in an inspiring manner are important. You are also capable of safeguarding and improving the quality of processes and results, recognizing opportunities for optimization as they arise.

  • A higher professional education level (hbo or equivalent), preferably with a qualification in security management.
  • At least three years of management experience within the security sector.
  • An interest in aviation and maritime security, and experience with quality management.
  • A valid category B driving licence.
  • The intention and commitment to fulfil this role for a minimum of three to five years.
  • Experience in a leadership role within security.
  • Knowledge of current security methods and techniques.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Analytical ability and problem-solving thinking.
  • Team player with a proactive attitude.

Required Skills and Competencies

  • Strong command of the English language; command of Dutch is an advantage and you are willing to learn it if not yet proficient.
  • Leadership and coaching skills.
  • Planning, organising, and prioritising skills.
  • Accuracy and a structured approach to work.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Knowledge of security legislation and certification requirements.

International security rules and regulations are becoming increasingly stringent, and our security staff must be guided through these developments. As Security Unit Manager at the Public Entity of St Eustatius, you will be responsible for supervising the security officers and supervisors at the port and airport. In doing so, you contribute to a well-trained and service-oriented security team.
