Job Description

To conduct precise analysis of specimens and operate equipment in strict accordance with study and client specifications. The role demands meticulous performance and documentation of both routine and non-routine analyses to deliver timely and accurate results. The technician is responsible for rigorous validation of results using technical and clinical rules in conjunction with supporting IT systems. The ultimate objective is to produce high-quality data that seamlessly integrates into the central database, facilitates accurate reporting to investigators and sponsors, and critically underpins the statistical analysis required for successful regulatory submissions.

Key Accountabilities:

  1. Execute laboratory testing with utmost precision, adhering strictly to established global protocols, timelines, and standard operating procedures (SOPs) to generate analytical results of the highest quality and accuracy.
  2. Promptly identify and escalate any issues that may potentially compromise subject safety, data integrity, or service levels, recognising the critical nature of such concerns.
  3. Conduct and meticulously document quality control procedures in full compliance with set SOPs and established guidelines, understanding the pivotal role these play in maintaining laboratory standards.
  4. Perform and thoroughly document routine equipment preventative maintenance and repairs, recognising that the reliability of laboratory equipment is paramount to the integrity of results.
  5. Demonstrate unwavering compliance with all relevant GxP, DoH, CAP, and other regulatory rules, acknowledging that adherence to these standards is non-negotiable in maintaining the laboratory's credibility and legal standing.
  6. Fulfil all assigned duties with the utmost diligence, including but not limited to:
    • Assisting supervisors in the critical task of writing SOPs and other relevant documents
    • Providing comprehensive support across all laboratory functions, including inventory management, stocking, housekeeping, archiving, and safety tasks
    • Serving as a reliable back-up to colleagues on leave, ensuring continuity of laboratory operations
  7. Conduct clinical validations and verifications with rigorous attention to detail, seamlessly integrating these with QC/technical validation processes to ensure the highest standards of data reliability.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of three years of working or educational experience in a diagnostic or clinical laboratory setting, with demonstrable proficiency in modern automation techniques, including practical application during formal education.
  • Proficiency in the use of commercial grade or customized clinical Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is strongly preferred, as it is essential for maintaining the highest standards of data management and analysis.
  • Minimum of MBO Laboratory education level 4 is mandatory, ensuring the necessary theoretical knowledge to complement practical skills.
  • Exceptional organizational abilities, capable of setting and adhering to priorities while working with utmost accuracy under strict deadlines.
  • Thorough understanding of and commitment to good laboratory and documentation practices is non-negotiable.
  • Capacity to multi-task effectively across various instrumentation platforms, as well as exhibit proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Strong interpersonal skills are crucial for effective collaboration within our team of professionals.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends on a rotation basis and during national holidays when required.
  • Experience performing moderate to high complexity testing, necessitating a keen eye for detail and a robust analytical mindset.
  • Problem-solving skills are paramount, including the ability to identify issues, determine root causes, and propose effective solutions, as well as document deviations and communicate effectively with superiors.
  • A good command of the English language is required for clear and precise communication, both written and verbal.
  • Unwavering commitment to perform and behave in accordance with the agreements established in Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), within the overarching quality framework of ISO, CAP, GCP, GCLP, and where applicable, any specific quality systems relevant to our operations.
