We are currently looking for a Scientific Programmer to join the team in Eindhoven.

As a Scientific Programmer, your role will be central to converting complex research concepts into usable, efficient software tools and prototypes. Main responsibilities

  • Develop and implement tooling solutions that integrate seamlessly with engineering environments.
  • Create demonstrators and prototypes from scratch using various technologies.
  • Analyze needs and select appropriate technologies for each project.
  • Design and develop software solutions that enhance product development cycles at various stages.
  • Demonstrate a high level of professional coding proficiency, with strong familiarity with coding standards and best practices.
  • Identify and resolve technical debt.
  • Experience in creating and driving technical improvement roadmaps is highly desirable.
  • Understand, integrate, and implement academic research results into practical, scalable industry solutions.
  • Collaborate with research fellows, team members, and stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver effective solutions.
  • Continuously evaluate and improve existing tools and methodologies.
  • Stay up to date with the latest technological advancements, academic research, and industry trends.
  • Work independently by interpreting scenarios and deriving the necessary technical actions without relying on detailed technical requirements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in scientific programming and software development.
  • Strong proficiency in multiple programming languages and technologies, including:
    • Proficiency in Java, C++, and Python, with demonstrated experience of using these languages in production.
    • Familiarity with one or more Domain-Specific Language (DSL) technologies such as Xtext, Xtend, Lark, or Langium.
    • Exposure to modeling formalisms (state machines, Petri nets) and logic-based languages such as Z3, OCL, and Prolog.
    • Working knowledge of web technologies such as HTML, JavaScript/Typescript, React, etc. is a plus.
  • Experience in creating prototypes and demonstrators from concept to implementation.
  • Solid understanding of software development life cycles and best practices.
  • Ability to understand and apply academic research results to practical industry solutions.
  • Familiarity with high-tech industry product development processes is a plus.
