Senior Android Engineer

Based in Rotterdam, Chainels is a high-growth PropTech / UrbanTech company offering a community platform for buildings and cities elevating the living and renting experience and allowing efficient management of the assets. Our SaaS solution is trusted by renowned real estate investors and is available in 20+ countries and used in over 750+ buildings with 100,000+ users. Our product development team—composed of in-house Web, iOS, Android developers, and designers—collaboratively researches, designs, builds, and optimises our multi-platform solution catering to 50+ white label applications.

We are looking for a Senior Android Engineer to play a key role in our mobile app development team. You will lead architectural planning, technical implementation, and ensure the delivery of state-of-the-art, high-performance features that delight our users.

The team is growing, but we keep our basics. We don’t do meetings just to meet, but only if necessary. Our structure is flat as a pancake and we highly value open and direct communication. You have a voice in the team, your ideas matter, and contribute to our way of working.

Key responsibilities

• Take ownership of our Android code base and guide the delivery process from planning to launch and beyond
• Collaborate with design and development teams to architect and implement well performing, visually appealing, and user friendly Android experiences
• Translate designs into high-quality, maintainable code
• Stay up-to-date with the latest Android trends and technologies and introduce them into our development processes

Requirements

• 7+ years of hands-on Android development experience with demonstrated proficiency in working with complex applications
• Expertise in modular MVVM Android architecture in complex applications, using REST APIs, local data storage, and 3rd party integrations
• Expertise in Jetpack Compose, and various libraries such as Room, Navigation and Dagger
• Experience with Git version control, CI/CD pipelines, and release management
• Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team
• Strong mentoring, communication, and expectation management skills
