At Arkitech we're looking for a Data Scientist to join our team.

About Arkitech

Arkitech is a young, impact-driven tech start-up based in Amsterdam, dedicated to helping ship owners decarbonize their fleets and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Our AI and data-driven platform optimizes onboard climate systems—the ship’s 2nd largest energy consumer—to improve energy efficiency, reduce fuel consumption, and lower environmental impact.

If you are passionate about sustainability, innovation, and working on global-scale projects, Arkitech is the place for you. Be part of a collaborative and fast-paced team driving meaningful change in the maritime industry.

About the role

At Arkitech, we are on a mission to make ships more energy-efficient and contribute to a more sustainable world through data-driven innovation. We are seeking a Data Scientist with a strong analytical mindset and a passion for using data to create real impact in energy optimization.

You will play a key role in unlocking insights from data and helping us optimize HVAC systems across maritime environments. You will help shape the foundation of Arkitech’s digital twin, a dynamic model that enables smarter, data-driven energy management.

You will work closely with our CTO and Lead HVAC Engineer to turn data into actionable insights, identify opportunities for efficiency improvements, and help shape how our technology reduces energy consumption and emissions.

What you’ll do

  • Analyze large datasets to discover relationships and patterns that drive energy savings.
  • Develop and improve statistical models and algorithms that support energy optimization strategies.
  • Collaborate closely with the Lead HVAC Engineer to interpret data and translate findings into practical improvements.
  • Evaluate and refine the performance of our existing algorithms and internal reports (e.g. Grafana dashboards).
  • Contribute to ongoing work on our digital twin, combining real-world data with predictive insights.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 2–4+ years of experience in Data Science.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Econometrics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong analytical background, with experience in statistical analysis and regression modeling.
  • Proficiency in Python, R, Excel, and basic SQL.
  • Experience with machine learning is a plus.
  • Experience with linear regression analysis.

Entrepreneurial and proactive; you take initiative, assume responsibility, and deliver results.

  • Excited to be part of a small, fast-growing startup and help scale it into a larger organization.
  • Highly intelligent, curious, and motivated to understand complex mechanical systems.
  • Fluent in English.

What we offer

  • A key role in shaping Arkitech’s data and energy optimization strategy as we scale.
  • Close collaboration with the CTO and Lead HVAC Engineer, giving you direct impact on product and strategy.
  • The opportunity to take ownership and grow within a company that values autonomy, initiative, and innovation.
  • Hands-on involvement in building a digital twin that drives measurable sustainability improvements.
  • A mission-driven environment where we tackle climate and energy challenges head-on.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package, including:
  • 30 days off
  • Your own laptop
  • Flexibility to work remotely
  • A personal development budget
