About the role

We are seeking a Senior HVAC Engineer to play a key role in the development and deployment of the Arkitech HVAC optimization platform across a growing number of cruise ships. In this role, you will combine your deep understanding of HVAC system optimization and data-driven insights to further enhance the energy-saving strategies onboard.

Working closely with our data scientists and software engineers, you will bridge the gap between traditional mechanical systems and advanced AI optimization tools. You will take ownership of improving the technical performance of HVAC optimization strategies, validate the applicability of our algorithms, and lead projects that directly contribute to measurable energy reductions.

What you'll do

• Analyze performance data to validate energy savings and propose improvements while maintaining passenger comfort and system reliability.
• Collaborate with our team of data scientists to refine savings algorithms and develop advanced control strategies.
• Conduct technical analyses and savings calculations based on system documentation, drawings, and operating procedures.
• Perform site visits onboard ships to assess HVAC design, confirm the applicability of Arkitech’s solution, and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of the HVAC systems onboard.
• Collaborate with the chief HVAC engineer onboard the ships to support the adoption of Arkitech’s HVAC optimization strategies.
• Represent Arkitech as the HVAC expert in discussions with clients, ship engineers, and suppliers, ensuring technical excellence throughout every project phase.

Preferred qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in optimizing HVAC systems with the ability to understand, evaluate, and explain complex designs in a building’s or marine-related environment.
• Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, HVAC Engineering, or a related field.
• Strong technical background in HVAC design and chiller systems, ideally gained from experience with leading brands such as York, Carrier, or Daikin.
• Proven ability to identify and capitalize on new opportunities for HVAC system optimization, including emerging technologies and innovative approaches.
• Track record of adaptability to new developments and changing environments.
• Experience with data analysis and AI tools such as Python, PowerBI, Grafana, and platforms for machine learning and predictive analytics.
• Strong stakeholder management skills, including the ability to influence decision-makers and foster buy-in for new initiatives.
• Entrepreneurial mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving, innovation, and driving business growth.
• Proficiency in leveraging AI and machine learning tools to optimize HVAC systems and drive continuous improvement is considered a pré.
• Passion for sustainability, energy efficiency, and making a tangible impact on decarbonization in the maritime industry.
