As a Senior Data Analyst at Techleap, you drive the full lifecycle of the analytical products that shape our strategy, insights, and decision-making across the Dutch tech and deep tech ecosystem. You take complete ownership—from defining requirements and building scalable data models to delivering dashboards, datasets, and reports used at the highest strategic levels.

This is a senior role with high autonomy and cross-functional impact, operating with deep influence across the deep tech team and also working closely with the data teams across other Techleap units. This also means an extensive collaboration with data specialists from other organizations, such as dealroom, InvestNL and TNO.

What You’ll Be Doing

In this role, you will lead complex analytical initiatives that guide Techleap’s strategic direction. You’ll create deep, data-driven analyses of high-value verticals such as quantum, biotech, compute, energy and climate tech. Furthermore, you will be mapping funding landscapes, talent pools, infrastructure readiness, and competitive positioning. These vertical deep dives help reveal ecosystem gaps, surface high-potential opportunities, and inform policy and support recommendations.

You will also be responsible for flagship publications like the State of Dutch Tech Report, conducting annual ecosystem-wide analyses on funding, talent, valuations, exits, and international competitiveness. You’ll combine historical trends with forward-looking insights to create narratives used by leadership, government stakeholders, and media.

Another recurring responsibility is the Academic Venture Monitor, where you track the performance of university spinoffs and research commercialization. You’ll benchmark Dutch academic innovation against global peers and illuminate areas for improvement in collaboration between academia and industry.

Beyond research and analysis, you own analytical products end-to-end: translating complex questions into structured analytical products, designing scalable data models and semantic layers, building dashboards with consistent definitions, and ensuring they update reliably. You’ll use AI tools where relevant to accelerate analysis and maximize productivity.

You’ll lead projects from scoping to delivery, managing expectations, risks, and timelines and work closely within the Deeptech program and across the Techleap Community and AI Hub. Driving adoption also matters: you’ll train users, create documentation, and establish feedback loops, so your work leads to real, measurable outcomes.

Your role includes shaping data quality and governance. You’ll define KPI standards, formalize data contracts, and implement monitoring and alerting to strengthen trust in our metrics. Ultimately, your work reduces time-to-insight, increases clarity across the organization, and delivers high-value analytical outputs that move the ecosystem forward.

Lastly, you will publish blogs or LinkedIn posts sharing insights based on data. In doing so, you will give Techleap’s Expertise Centre a clear voice and strong public presence.

Techleap Data Stack

TL’s data environment is built on a modern, cohesive stack that supports reliable insights and scalable growth. At the core are Google Workspace and selected Google Cloud components, forming the operational backbone. Data is transformed and organized through dbt and stored in BigQuery, which together serve as the central warehouse and lake. Relationship and CRM data are managed in Attio, while Steep provides the business intelligence layer that turns complex information into clear, actionable dashboards. The ecosystem draws from a blend of internal business systems and external datasets, ensuring a rich, up-to-date picture of the tech landscape. All of this is supported by strong data practices, including standardized KPIs, clear data contracts, continuous monitoring, and rigorous quality assurance.

Who you are

Our ideal candidate embodies most of the qualities listed below. If you don’t meet every requirement but believe you’re the right fit, we encourage you to make your case.

You have more than six years of experience in analytics, data product development, or BI engineering, with a track record of delivering production-ready solutions that actually get used. Your SQL expertise and grasp of analytics data modeling—ranging from dimensional models to well-structured semantic layers—allow you to build clean, scalable foundations for insights. You’re confident working with modern BI tools, managing transformations, and maintaining lightweight but reliable data pipelines.

Beyond the technical depth, you excel in project management and have repeatedly delivered complex workstreams involving multiple stakeholders from start to finish. You communicate clearly and comfortably: defining KPIs, aligning on shared definitions, writing reports or blog posts, and presenting insights to executives. Your natural curiosity drives you to explore the dynamics of tech ecosystems, and you bring an understanding of deep-tech trends and the metrics that matter.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working with both internal business systems and external ecosystem datasets.
  • Knowledge of and experience with AI tooling to improve analysis.
  • Knowledge of CRM-centric data modeling and enrichment for go-to-market strategies.
