At Van Oord, we’re not simply hiring — we care about building a strong, engaged global team that delivers service excellence to every corner of our operations. We are searching for ambitious, forward-thinking finance professionals who want to contribute to a high-performance organisation and make a meaningful impact on our global business. Within our Global Financial Shared Service Center, the Record to Report (R2R) team is essential in ensuring reliable financial reporting. You will play a vital role in delivering accurate month-end closings, strong balance sheet management, and data-driven insights that help guide key decisions across the organisation. Your work directly contributes to how we succeed together and how we continue to build the future. Join us and become part of the engine that ensures our financial foundation is strong, transparent, and future-proof.

The Position

The Global Financial Shared Service Center (GFSSC), part of our Finance & Control department, provides centralized, efficient, and high-quality accounting and payroll services to all Van Oord Business Units, projects, and staff departments. With five specialized sub-teams operating from Rotterdam and Dubai, the GFSSC is constantly evolving — enhancing our processes, strengthening collaboration, and supporting Van Oord’s global ambitions.

Your Impact

As a member of our Record to Report team, you ensure the accuracy, completeness, and integrity of our financial data. You contribute to timely reporting, strong accounting controls, and clean balance sheets — all essential to keeping our global operations financially sound.

You will work on the full period-end process: performing reconciliations, preparing account specifications, reviewing general ledger data, and helping maintain a process book that keeps our standards high and compliant. Your analytical mindset, hands-on approach, and eye for consistency help safeguard the financial reliability of our organisation.

You will take ownership of one or more of the following key processes, or contribute to their overall accuracy and completeness:

  • Cost Allocation
  • Tangible Fixed Assets
  • Damages & Insurance
  • Payroll Controlling
  • Period-End Closing & Quarterly Reporting

Your work empowers our management teams with insights they need to steer our projects, investments, and future strategy.

Your Workplace

Your base will be our head office in Rotterdam — a modern workspace with a beautiful view of the Maas and access to an in-house gym to support your wellbeing. Hybrid working is encouraged, but we value personal connection and collaboration, so being present with your team is important.

You will join a warm, international GFSSC community of 68 colleagues across 13 nationalities. With the support of a dedicated buddy, you will feel welcomed and guided from day one. As our Shared Service Center continues to grow and professionalize, your contributions will help build the financial excellence of tomorrow.

Every day brings new challenges — and that’s exactly what motivates you. In this role, you are independent, resilient, and capable of navigating a dynamic environment. You enjoy working with numbers, processes, and continuous improvement.

About You

You are a motivated finance professional who thrives in an international environment and enjoys working with data, systems and colleagues across the organisation. You combine strong analytical skills with a hands-on mindset and a drive to enhance the quality of financial information. You collaborate easily, take ownership of your work and are passionate about improving processes while ensuring accuracy.

  • Bachelor’s degree or professional qualification in Accounting, Business Administration or Finance.

  • 3–5 years of R2R or similar experience with strong knowledge of accounting principles, processes and standards.
  • High level of accuracy, an automation and data driven mindset and experience with ERP systems, preferably IFS.
  • Passion for service excellence and continuous improvement supported by strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Experience in creating, maintaining and developing a process book.

We Offer

At Van Oord, your work contributes directly to our mission of building a better world for future generations. In return, we offer:

  • A competitive salary aligned with your responsibilities and experience
  • Travel allowance (€0.31 per km) & home working allowance (€2.40 per day)
  • 32 holidays (up to 7 collective)
  • Variable bonus based on company performance
  • Attractive pension scheme
  • Option for collective health insurance (supplementary package paid by Van Oord)
  • Hybrid working: up to 2 days per week from home (full-time)
  • Extensive development and e-learning through GoodHabitz
  • Active employee communities (Young Van Oord, Van Oord Women, Staff Association)
  • Sports & social activities: skiing trips, cycling, sailing weekends, motorcycling, and more
