The Role – AI native builder
We're looking for an AI native builder who thinks like a builder and moves like a startup founder. This isn't a role for someone who writes stories from the sidelines. You'll work directly alongside our Digital Product Manager and Chief Operating Officer to identify automation opportunities, design intelligent workflows, build them with AI assistance, and ship them to production. We expect our engineers to use tools like Claude Code and Cursor throughout their entire workflow, from identifying automation opportunities to shipping production code.
You'll own the full stack lifecycle: spot the problem, gather requirements, design the technical solution, build it, deploy it, and iterate based on real feedback. As you build, you'll think modularly—designing systems that can be broken apart, reused, and potentially commercialized as standalone products.
Key Responsibilities
- Identify automation opportunities across complex business workflows
- Build and extend our carbon insetting platform using AI-driven solutions—LLM and OCR integrations for intelligent document processing, automated compliance engines and orchestrated business logic
- Design modular, API-first architectures that support reusability and future productization
- Use AI coding assistants daily (Claude Code, Cursor) to ship faster without sacrificing quality
- Work directly with stakeholders to understand problems and validate solutions
- Think commercially about what you build: could this become a standalone product? An API others would pay for? A module that scales beyond our platform?
- Ship continuously: your code goes live in weeks, not quarters
Requirements
Technical Foundation (Must-Haves)
- Strong proficiency in backend development JavaScript/TypeScript with Node.js
- Experience with frontend frameworks (React or similar)
- Solid understanding of databases and data modelling (PostgreSQL or similar)
- Comfortable designing and building REST APIs
- Can write clean, maintainable code and understands architectural patterns
Builder Mindset (Critical)
- You've built things for yourself. Side projects, open source contributions, hackathon wins, freelance work, or thesis projects that went beyond tutorials.
- Portfolio/GitHub required—we want to see what you've shipped
- You think in systems and can identify which components should be reusable, modular, and API-first
- You move fast and iterate based on feedback.
AI-Native Development (Strong Plus)
- Familiarity with AI coding assistants (Claude Code, Cursor)and agentic orchestration frameworks is considered a big plus
- Experience integrating LLMs or AI APIs into applications
- Understanding of prompt engineering and how to leverage AI throughout the development lifecycle is required
- Understanding of context (pre-) engineering and management
- Interest in agentic workflows and intelligent automation
Cultural Fit
- Self-starter: You don't wait for detailed instructions—you identify problems and propose solutions
- Curious learner: You're eager to learn new tools, frameworks, and approaches quickly
- Collaborative communicator: You work well with sales, operations, and technical teams
- Structured thinker: You document your work, write clear code, and think about maintainability and re-usability
Experience Level
- 0-4 years professional experience and a strong portfolio of personal projects that demonstrate your ability to ship production-quality code
- We care more about what you've built than where you worked
- Recent graduates with impressive side projects are encouraged to apply
Application Process
Interview Process
- Portfolio review
- Intro call (15-30 min), we'll review your GitHub/portfolio and discuss your background
- Next steps determined based on fit—We move fast and keep it straightforward
Required Application Materials
- Link to your GitHub profile or portfolio
- Brief description of 1-2 projects you've built (what problem did it solve? what tech did you use? what did you learn?)
- Resume
