Are you a highly motivated DWH developer/data engineer with strong Azure Cloud support skills, eager to make an impact in the field of Asset Management? Does your passion lie in designing and building DWH’s? Are you excited about contributing to the massive digital transformation of one of Europe’s largest asset managers? If so, we want to meet you. Read on to learn more about this opportunity.

The role

Within the department of Data Sourcing and Distribution (DSD), part of Data Office COO at APG Asset Management, we are looking for an experienced SAS DWH developer who is forward thinking.

We are seeking a skilled and forward-thinking Data Warehouse Developer to join our Data Warehouse Team. You will play a key role in maintaining and enhancing our existing SAS-based Data Warehouse (DWH) while actively contributing to the modernisation and redesign of the future-state platform in Azure Databricks. The ideal candidate combines solid DWH development experience with SAS, SQL, and ETL frameworks, and is motivated to evolve toward modern data engineering practices (e.g., Databricks, Delta Lake, PySpark, CI/CD). This is a unique opportunity to help shape the next-generation data platform for one of Europe’s leading Asset Managers, supporting investment, risk, and regulatory domains.

What you would do

  • Maintain, optimise, and enhance existing SAS-based DWH components (ETL jobs, data marts, reports).
  • Analyse, document, and reverse engineer legacy data flows, business logic, and dependencies.
  • Design and implement data pipelines, ingestion frameworks, and transformation logic in the target Azure Databricks platform.
  • Collaborate with data architects and platform engineers to define target-state models, ingestion patterns, and metadata-driven frameworks.
  • Migrate and refactor SAS ETL logic into PySpark/SQL on Databricks following best practices.
  • Contribute to data quality, reconciliation, and test automation for migrated datasets.

What you bring

  • 5+ years’ experience in Data Warehouse or ETL development within financial services or asset management.
  • Proven experience with SAS, SAS Data Integration Studio, SAS Macro programming.
  • Strong SQL skills and experience with relational data models.
  • Experience working in Asset Management / Investment Management domains (e.g., portfolios, holdings, benchmarks, market data, risk).
  • Analytical mindset, attention to detail, and curiosity to explore how data supports investment decisions.
  • Collaborative team player comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments.
  • Strong communication skills (English required; Dutch a plus).
  • Proactive and eager to upskill from SAS to modern cloud data engineering.

What we offer you

  • A guaranteed end of year bonus of 8.33%.
  • Attention to your vitality and personal development.
  • Possibility to work from home 2-3 days per week.
  • A well-managed pension.

Where you will work

For pension provider APG, pension is about people, life, and living together. With careful asset management, pension administration, communication and advice, we work on a livable future for current and future generations. One in which we share prosperity and well-being fairly and sustainably. Now and later.

When you choose to work at APG, you're choosing a job where you contribute to a bright future.
