Introduction

Within ASML’s Customer Support – Customer Supply Chain Management (CS CSCM) Quality Department, the Tools’ Operations Team plays a key role in safeguarding the performance and safety of service tools used for machine installation, maintenance, and upgrades at customer sites. These tools undergo annual certification at local warehouses worldwide, a process that is essential to maintaining operational excellence. To enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs, the team is initiating a project to optimize resource allocation within this certification process. This internship offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a strategically relevant initiative by developing a mathematical model that supports data-driven decision-making and improves global logistics performance.

Your Assignment

This internship focuses on developing a mathematical model to optimize the certification process for service tools. Key deliverables include:

  • Optimizing location selection for certification and inspection activities
  • Allocating test tools efficiently across global warehouses
  • Designing localized certification setups to reduce transport and downtime
  • Identifying additional opportunities for process efficiency
  • Documenting methodology and results in a thesis-ready format

This is an internship for a minimum of 6 months. It requires an investment of 24-32 hours per week, out of which 2 days per week are onsite in Veldhoven. It is set to start in February 2026.

Your Profile

To be a perfect match you:

  • Are enrolled in a Master’s program in Mathematics, Operations Research, Econometrics, Data Science, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • Have strong analytical and modeling skills (e.g., linear programming, network optimization)
  • Are able to work independently
  • Are fluent in English and have great communication skills
  • Have a passion for quality assurance and operational efficiency

Other requirements you need to meet

  • You are enrolled at an educational institute for the entire duration of the internship
  • You need to be located in the Netherlands to be able to perform your internship. In case you’re currently living/studying outside of the Netherlands, your CV/motivation letter includes the willingness to relocate.
  • If you are a non-EU citizen, studying in the Netherlands, your university is willing to sign the documents relevant for doing an internship (i.e., Nuffic agreement).
