Your role:

The Philips MRI system has a central scan control computer with a real-time operating system. The scan control computer controls four subsystems via individual optical links: Transmit chain link, Receive Chain link, Gradient Chain link, and Reconstructor Link. When errors occur, the Digital Network Traffic Analyzer helps diagnose the problem.

  • Work on a complex product in a complex organization.
  • Acquire an in-depth understanding of the real-time control aspects of MR hardware and network communication protocols.
  • Translate ‘vague’ ideas into smart requirements.
  • Build prototypes to validate requirements.
  • Develop an FPGA application on existing hardware with an embedded processor and Python.
  • Learn to use new tools such as Vivado, Matlab, Ruby, Python, and Questasim.
  • Plan the project in agreement with stakeholders.
  • Implement a prototype solution on an FPGA platform with an embedded software user interface.
  • Document the project.

You're the right fit if:

  • You are a curious and motivated Master or Bachelor student in Computer Sciences or Electrical Engineering.
  • You are eager to learn, have good listening skills, are self-motivated, and open-minded.
  • You have experience with VHDL, FPGA programming, and script programming (e.g., Python).
  • You possess English language skills.

How we work together

  • Housing compensation for those relocating: €300 net if near Amsterdam, €255 net for other Philips locations (with a rental contract and a home-work travel distance of more than 50 km or a one-way travel time of more than 1.5 hours).
  • Travel compensation up to €192 net if not eligible for a free public transport card.
  • Paid holidays per internship term.
  • Opportunity to buy Philips equipment at our Philips shop.
