Introduction to the job

This role focuses on the building control & automation part. ASML uses SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Analytics) systems to monitor the building automation systems. The building automation environment mainly consists of PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), Sensors (measuring values), and Actuators (valves, switches, pumps, etc.), and controls relevant facilities and the conditions in clean rooms and offices. ASML makes use of General Electric (GE) SCADA solutions such as iFix and Historian.

ASML Corporate Real Estate focuses on building creation, building and asset maintenance, building control & automation, and facility management, all supported by the latest technologies. You'll be challenging business about their requirements & processes in order to realize a fit in standard IT solutions instead of custom build solutions.

Role and responsibilities

You will act as a first IT contact for business key players and business Product Owners in the ASML CRE (Corporate Real Estate) organization. You will play a key role in IT development & implementation projects. You will be working in an agile environment inspired by the Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe), where you work on larger epics as well as smaller changes in the CRE & EHS Agile Release Train (ART). As a Junior SCADA engineer you'll:

  • Acquire knowledge of the CRE building automation processes, the supporting SCADA applications, and the IT landscape around it.
  • Translate business requirements into the right functional IT specifications and IT solution direction, specifically in the building automation domain. Based on these solutions, CRE will be able to improve the building automation monitoring and the responsiveness to incidents. This means you create the functional design or you review the functional design as created by external partners and ensure that the solution fits in the current information systems.
  • Customize, test, train key-users, and take the lead in smaller initiatives.

Education and experience

To help us tackle the technical challenges we face, you’ll need experience working on high tech products and with complex processes. As a junior SCADA engineer, you’ll need:

  • Bachelor in Electrical engineering, Computer science/automation. Other relevant degrees include electronics, mechatronics, or energy technology.
  • Familiarity with SCADA software, hardware, and communication protocols is a significant plus, even at a junior level.
  • Knowledge of IT solutions in a broad sense.
  • Ability to document ‘as is’ and ‘to be‘ processes and to assist in development of business case transition.
  • Basic knowledge of the agile way of working.
  • Strong logical and problem-solving skills are essential for troubleshooting and maintaining SCADA systems.

Compensation

For this position, the indicative (fixed) annual salary range is between 57,000 euro and 64,000 euro. This range comprises vacation allowance and a 13th-month payment. Company profit sharing is not included in this range. The actual compensation offered will depend on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to: job-related skills, relevant education and (work) experience, certifications, demonstrated abilities of the candidate, pay relative to other team members.
