For our office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands, we are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer who will be responsible for product quality control and quality assurance of the whole supply chain. You will report to the Manager Quality Assurance.

We source coffee from all over the world and advise roasters on the coffee they need. Job Description

As the Quality Assurance Engineer, you are responsible for product quality control and quality assurance of the whole supply chain. You coordinate supplier, subcontractor, and product approval, as well as coordinate quality-related corrective actions, both internal and external. You will also be involved in continuous improvement initiatives and ensure compliance with product specifications and regulations.

Your responsibilities and objectives

  • Assess new and existing suppliers and subcontractors worldwide, evaluate their information, identify gaps, and follow up on how these gaps need to be addressed together with the supplier. Decide if and how we can work with the supplier or subcontractor.
  • Ensure all products are within specification regarding flavor, grade, certification standards, and regulations. Participate as a member of our sensory panel, using the SCA cupping form to create sensory profiles and check consistency of flavor over time and throughout the supply chain.
  • Follow up on analysis, release products, and take action when products are out of specification. Implement improvements regarding products and processes. Together with the Quality Assistant, maintain our sensory analysis lab.
  • Ensure customers receive the coffees and service they need, including answering questionnaires, handling complaints, customer questions, and customer specification follow-up.
  • Perform operational quality desk work as needed, such as roasting samples, green grading, and sample administration of inbound and outbound samples.

Job Requirements

What you’ll bring

  • A bachelor’s in food/life science or work experience in a food safety position
  • Maximum 1 year of relevant work experience in a similar position
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) in English and Dutch
  • Proficiency with MS Office, including Excel
  • Computer literacy and experience with ERP systems (Axapta is a plus)
  • Knowledge of risk assessments (food safety and/or organic) and food safety standards
  • Knowledge of certification standards is a plus
  • Experience with coffee and coffee knowledge (specialty, roasting, sensory evaluation) is a strong plus
  • Experience with implementation of quality systems, supplier control, and product control, especially within a global company, is an advantage
  • A positive attitude, working accurately and organized, always looking for ways to improve
