Join us at Orbia Building & Infrastructure (Wavin): Where purpose comes to life.

At Wavin, we’re reimagining how buildings and cities work. You’ll be part of an ambitious digital transformation within a global sustainability leader, backed by Orbia. You’ll have the freedom to shape the way we build tech and the future of our homes and cities.

About the Role

Wavin is building the next generation connected platform powering smart building, energy management, urban climate resilience, and water management solutions across Europe and beyond. With a target of over 100,000 connected devices, this is your chance to shape the development and roadmap of Orbia’s Building & Infrastructure platform.

Since 2023, we have laid the foundation of a modern, cloud-native platform. We’re now entering our next phase—scale, innovation, and internal capability building. We’re not just coding features, we’re crafting smart, scalable, and sustainable infrastructure that impacts real homes, cities, and environments.

We are currently looking for a Lead Software Engineer to join us at Orbia Building & Infrastructure (Wavin) in our Schiphol or Dedemsvaart Office. If you want to make a difference and work for a purpose-led company, please read on.

What You'll Do

  • Own the architecture of a distributed Wavin iConnect platform running on Google Cloud.
  • Lead development teams, mentor engineers, and establish scalable best practices.
  • Work with the broader Wavin and Orbia IT community.
  • Coordinate with vendors and consultants while building up our in-house capabilities.
  • Bring together connected hardware, data pipelines, and UX into a seamless, maintainable platform and enable innovation across the teams.
  • Be responsible for the reliability and performance of the Wavin iConnect platform.

Who You Are

  • 7+ years’ software development experience, with 5+ years’ experience in backend programming, and 3+ years in Go programming language.
  • Strong knowledge of cloud-native architecture and Google Cloud Platform services (e.g. BigQuery, Spanner, Pub/Sub, Cloud Run).
  • Knowledge of or interest in connected devices and systems—device-to-cloud communication, protocols, provisioning, and remote management.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams and working with external development partners.
  • Skilled in agile development, CI/CD, testing, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience in smart buildings, HVAC, or energy management systems is a plus.
