About the Company

OMA is an international architecture and urbanism practice founded in 1975. With offices in Rotterdam, New York, Hong Kong, and Australia, the practice is led by seven partners: Rem Koolhaas, Reinier de Graaf, Iyad Alsaka, Shohei Shigematsu (NY), Jason Long (NY), David Gianotten, and Chris van Duijn. Over the past four decades, OMA has produced a broad portfolio of projects, employing a team of more than 200 architects, designers, and researchers with a diverse range of experience and expertise. AMO, a research and design studio, often works in parallel with OMA’s clients, enriching architecture with intelligence drawn from a wide range of other disciplines.

About the Role

OMA’s Rotterdam office is looking for a Junior Project Controller to join the Finance department and report directly to the Finance Director/CFO. The Finance department is responsible for the accounting of all offices and branch offices globally, as well as the financial project management of all OMA projects worldwide, which is handled from the Rotterdam office.

The working language in the Finance department is Dutch, while English is used throughout the company. Candidates must feel comfortable working in an international environment.

The ideal candidate should preferably be experienced in all aspects of financial accounting. OMA is currently undergoing a transformation to a new ERP software, which involves reassessing current processes and reports. Candidates with an affinity for or knowledge of such transformations, as well as ERP software in general, are encouraged to apply.

Requirements:

  • HBO degree, preferably in Finance & Control or “Bedrijfseconomie”
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in a similar position
  • Experience with IFS or other accounting software such as Exact
  • Proven experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Outlook, and Excel)
  • Full professional proficiency in both Dutch and English
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively
  • Accurate, detail-oriented, and hands-on approach
  • Pro-active, self-disciplined, and a team player
  • Eligibility to work in the Netherlands is preferred

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the financial project management of OMA projects, including communication with project leaders and partners, preparation of sales invoices, quarterly project reporting, understanding and applying tax implications, and following up on outstanding sales invoices
  • Support regular Finance department processes such as petty cash, bank statements, vendor invoices, expense reports, and company credit cards
  • Ensure quality control over financial transactions and financial reporting
  • Actively follow up with OMA staff to ensure timesheets are filled and approved correctly and promptly
  • Assist with monthly and quarterly closing

What We Offer

  • An employment contract for 32-40 hours per week
  • A competitive salary commensurate with experience, plus benefits including 30 vacation days per calendar year, 8% holiday allowance, and a collective pension plan
  • A collaborative and supportive work environment in OMA’s Rotterdam office
  • Career opportunities in a leading firm in the creative industry

OMA is an international practice operating within the traditional boundaries of architecture and urbanism. AMO, a research and design studio, applies architectural thinking to domains beyond.
