Basic-Fit’s Data Platform team is expanding and looking for a Data Engineer! Do you love to translate project definitions and ad-hoc requests into new and innovative solutions for Europe’s leading low-cost high value gym? Do you have experience as a Data Engineer in supporting the Microsoft data platform, and would you love to work in a cross-functional Agile team? Then we must be looking for you!

This is what your assignment looks like

As a Data Engineer, your role is to translate project definitions and ad-hoc requests into new and innovative solutions. As part of one of the Agile teams, you will plan and implement technical solutions within our cloud-based Azure platform. At the same time, you will be a key player in various companywide data-driven projects and working groups. You will create innovative and creative solutions to integrate data from disparate systems, and contribute to the ever-growing and expanding CI/CD process to deploy developed code through the development lifecycle.

What tech stack will you be using? At Basic-Fit, we utilize the Microsoft development platform which includes on-premise solutions, as well as the cloud-based Azure data platform. We comprehensively use a combination of Microsoft on-premise and Azure products, which include: DevOps, Jira, Data Factory, Databricks, Logic Apps, SQL Server, Replication, Datalake, Analysis Services, Integration Services, PowerBI, and Python.

Your responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement new solutions, as well as conceptual and logical data models.
  • Maintain and improve existing solutions for our Smart Data Platform.
  • Plan technical solutions and deploy the data architecture using cloud-based technologies.
  • Contribute to the data warehouse architecture roadmap.
  • Identify, address, and initiate data quality improvement initiatives.
  • Develop solutions to extract data from distributed APIs and import data through the ETL process.
  • Design and implement indexes considering the complex and diverse workloads.
  • Monitor and respond to High Availability Replication and Job scheduler events/incidents.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve incidents from SSIS, SSRS, and SQL Server including infrastructure related.
  • Make data available, execute pipelines, and scale sets for the Data Science team to run models and generate insights.

As Data Engineer, you will be working within the Business Control & Analytics team: an international team with financial and data professionals, generating high-quality reports and analyses while working closely with the business. This team provides insights to support the business in taking actions that add value. You will be responsible to ensure that the foundations of these functions are updated, maintained, and improved.

We ask:

A self-starter with strong team and problem-solving skills. You are a skilled communicator and you have the ability to oversee projects and steer them in the right direction.

Furthermore, we require:

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience with ETL, SparkSQL, T-SQL, Reporting, and OLAP environments in Microsoft Azure (Databricks, Data Factory, Datalake, DWH, SQL Server, PowerBI).
  • Previous experience with Azure DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Interest in continuously developing in the newest technologies.
  • Excellent communication skills in English.

Additionally, these are optional advantageous:

  • Experience with the Scrum / Agile methodology.
  • Microsoft certified (MCSA Data Engineering and/or MCSA BI Developer and/or MCSE Data Management and Analytics).
  • Experience programming using Python.
