Within the Procurement department, we manage the costs for several Allocation Groups, such as wheels, rollers, extrusion parts, motors, controls cabinets, pneumatic equipment, etc. Parts are purchased for years, so there is a lot of historical data. To support the different Category Managers and Cost Engineering during project development, it would be very helpful to have a good insight into what the cost drivers are for an Allocation Group and what their influence is on the price. If we have this knowledge modeled, we can use it to give better fact-based estimations and budgets towards the wider Vanderlande organization. We need to develop cost (price) models for specific Allocation Groups, one at a time and preferably to be used on a global level.

Cost Engineering is part of Procurement. The latter is a department within the CPO (Chief Procurement Officer) organization and is a strategic part of the worldwide delivery of products and services to our projects. There is a high degree of cooperation with departments like Technology, Engineering and Sales.
