Introduction to the job

As an Indirect tax manager, you'll play a crucial role in shaping our global indirect tax strategy. In this role, you will join our dynamic and diverse team of over 40 tax professionals located across the Netherlands, Asia, and the US. At ASML, you'll be part of a global network, working together to navigate the complexities of tax and customs affairs.

Role and responsibilities

As Indirect tax manager, you will participate in local and global projects, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and drive initiatives that ensure compliance and optimize tax processes. You will be part of the T&C (tax & customs) team, specifically the Indirect tax function of 5 people, located at the ASML headquarters in Veldhoven and reporting to the Lead Indirect Taxes. Your responsibilities include:

  • Managing the Indirect Tax control framework globally (monitoring and reviewing controls)
  • Improving indirect tax data quality and processes where indirect taxes are impacted
  • Supporting ASML Business Services teams with ITX knowledge
  • Participation in cross sector projects where ITX input is required
  • Driving projects initiated by the indirect tax team
  • Coordinating Indirect Tax audits within EMEA
  • Providing training, sharing insights, and Indirect Tax knowledge with key stakeholders
  • Engaging with internal and external stakeholders as well as other Tax and Customs team members to identify ITX-relevant topics and provide solutions
  • Co-developing, maintaining, and implementing policies and guidelines to manage Indirect Tax risks and compliance globally

Education and Experience

  • Master’s Degree
  • 6-10 years working experience in indirect tax within a multinational, law firm, or a consulting company
  • Experience with OneSource (or similar Tax engines), SAP4Hana, and data-analytics tools; tech savvy and willing to further automate the tax function

  • Strong drive with a hands-on, structured, accurate, and result-oriented working style
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to clearly articulate tax matters to stakeholders at their level of understanding
  • Team player with a flexible and pro-active attitude
  • Able to work independently, while also knowing when to elevate relevant matters
  • Able to cope with a dynamic, constantly changing, and complex environment
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate complex business issues into simple problem statements, clear processes, and actions
  • Eye for detail
  • Show ownership of issues from start to finalization
  • Good time management skills and able to manage towards tight deadlines
  • A strategic mindset with the ability to translate strategy into actionable objectives (short, medium, and long-term)
  • Fluent in English, both oral and written; other languages (Dutch, German) are a plus

The Tax & Customs (T&C) team reports to the Finance Organization, where T&C is part of the Expert & Advisory area. Together with Treasury, Accounting, and Legal, the T&C team provides integrated advice to the ASML business and other stakeholders.
