Join the Albert Heijn Technology Supply Chain team and help shape one of the biggest and most efficient Supply Chains in Europe by building state-of-the-art web applications. We test and experiment, innovate, and push boundaries. For that journey, we have the Talent Track—a program designed to give your career as a Junior Backend Engineer at Albert Heijn a flying start.

Does this sound like the perfect opportunity for you? Become the new Junior Backend Engineer in our Talent Track!

You will be joining our Supply Chain Execution cluster. This cluster is responsible for the order picking of goods in our distribution centers, ensuring 24/7 uptime on mission critical environments. Your work will have a great impact on the daily lives of our customers.

This is how you will reinvent food retail:

  • Build microservices in Kotlin for our Warehouse Outbound & Insights team
  • Develop technical solutions in line with our systems and business process architecture
  • Develop proofs of concept, write code, implement and execute automated testing, ensure security and code quality, establish best practices, and conduct functional testing

Your new team and office:

As a Junior Backend Engineer, you will join the AH Warehouse Outbound & Insights Product team. This team is responsible for specific applications that help connect the distribution centers with the rest of the AH Operations, like stores and finance. The team is also actively modernizing the logistics landscape.

Our team works in a hybrid way: both from home and in the office, located right next to the train station of Zaandam.

The recipe for maximum impact:

  • 0-2 years of work experience as Backend Engineer
  • Familiarity with Java / Kotlin
  • Knowledge of event streaming and messaging platforms (Kafka)
  • Bonus if you are also familiar with Cloud (Azure)
  • An outstanding command of English
  • Good communication skills and a willingness to learn from senior developers
  • Residing in the Netherlands

What we offer:

  • An annual salary between €47,000 and €52,000 including holiday allowance, depending on your experience
  • Guaranteed profit sharing bonus as you contribute to our growth
  • 45 days of paid leave: 25.5 regular vacation days and 19.5 ADV days
  • Flexible working hours
  • Access to a challenging training curriculum – AH Tech Academy
  • An excellent pension plan where we as an employer contribute 4.5 times more than you as an employee
  • A travel allowance or an NS-business card for commuting to and from Zaandam by train
  • Attractive discounts on various insurance policies
  • 10% staff discount on groceries in all Albert Heijn stores, up to €300 per year
  • A free Mijn Albert Heijn Premium membership with many benefits
  • A company laptop and telephone

Do you have 0-2 years of work experience after completing your education? Then we are pleased to offer you the Talent Track alongside your job. We invest in our clients and in your career by helping you, as a newcomer to the job market, develop into the professional of the future within our food & tech organization. You will achieve this by learning 'on the job,' but also by following an 18-month development program that supports your professional and personal development.
